*The occurrence was moved in June 2010, approximately 2.5 km northwest from its previously reported location and renamed the WS occurrence.
Staked as Taslar cl 1-60 (Y60034) in Jan/71 by Taseko Mines Ltd and LaRonge Mining Ltd adjoining the Williams Creek property (Minfile Occurrence #115I 008) located 4 km to the north. The companies carried out soil sampling, prospecting and road building later in the year.
The Wet cl 1-15 (Y60843), cl 17-21 (Y60859), cl 22-29 (Y60864) and cl 36-43 (Y60873) were staked to the southwest by Anglo Western Mines Ltd and transferred to Minto Mines Ltd, which explored by grid soil sampling in 1972 and a ground magnetic survey in 1973. H.A. Larson staked a single AL claim (YA74691) 1.6 km to the south in Jun/82.
Between Aug/89 and Jul/92 Western Copper Holdings Ltd staked 102 W claims (claim #1 = YB26708) in the vicinity of this occurrence as part of the Williams Creek copper property. It appears the occurrence was restaked within W cl 87-96 (YB36925) in Jul/92. The company staked several small blocks of X claims (claim #1 = YB36896) to the west and northwest in Jun and Aug/92.
In Oct/96 Western Copper Holdings Ltd staked VW cl 1-39 (YB96610) in Oct/96. The company added VW cl 40-50 (YB96986) and cl 60-61 (YB96997) in Dec/96. The claims were staked in a north-south trending line from the occurrence area southward to the Freegold Road. It appears the claims were staked to protect access to the road.
Restaked as WS cl 1-82 (YC53521) and cl 83-156 (YC53748) in Aug/2006 by S. Ryan. In Oct/2006 Ryan added WS cl 157-196 (YC53993) and staked Wwest cl 1-24 (YC53969) 3 km to the west. In Nov/2006 Ryan optioned the WS and Wwest claims and 13 other neighbouring claim groups to BCGold Corp in return for cash, shares and certain work commitments.
Western Copper Corp carried out IP geophysical surveys in 2007 on Zones 12, 13 and 14, located northwest of the new occurrence location. These zones are located on various W and WC claims.
In 2007 BCGold flew an regional airborne magnetic and radiometric geophysical survey over their various claim holdings including the WS and Wwest claims. The company also carried out geological mapping, prospecting, trenching and a large Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) soil sampling program over the WS claim block. In the fall the company collared 3 diamond drill holes (length unknown) on the central WS zone. This drilling was part of a larger 7 hole (1 360 m) program carried out on the WS and adjoining Ice claims.
In early 2008 BCGold carried out an IP survey over the western side of the claim block followed by a second IP survey over the east and south portions of property later in the year. The company collected further MMI soil samples and drilled 5 diamond drill holes (1 284 m) on the northwest side of claim block. BCGold also negotiated a data exchange with Western Copper Corp whereby in return for certain technical data covering Western Copper's deposits located at Williams Creek, BCGold would carry out IP geophysical and MMI soil sampling on parts of Western Copper's property. These surveys and data provided by Western Copper would allow BCGold to better calibrate past and future IP and MMI surveys.
During 2007 and 2008 BCGold carried out MMI soil sampling over parts of the Wwest claim block.
In Mar/08 Western Copper Corporation staked Jim cl 1-30 (YC66844) between Western Copper's W and BCGold's WS claims. The Jim claims extended as far south as the Freegold Road and appear to cover lapsed W claims. During the summer of 2008 Western Copper carried out a airphoto interpretation study which covered the southwest side of the Williams Creek property, including the W, WC and Jim claims. In Dec/2008 all of Western Copper's claims associated with the Williams Creek property were transferred to Carmacks Copper Corporation a fully own subsidiary of Western Copper.
In 2009 BCGold carried out trenching, and additional geological mapping, prospecting, detailed IP surveys and MMI soil sampling on the WS claims. In Aug/2009 BCGold Staked WS claims 197-208 (YC91789) to the northeast. In May 2010 BCGold fulfilled the terms of its option agreement with S. Ryan and the WS and Wwest claims were transferred into the company's name.
Capsule Geology
*The occurrence was moved in June 2010, approximately 2.5 km northwest from its previously reported location and renamed the WS occurrence.
The occurrence area is located approximately 3 km south and east of Western Copper Corporation's Williams Creek deposit (Minfile Occurrence #115I 008). The original occurrence appears to have been misplotted when it was originally entered into Yukon Minfile. Soil sampling carried out by Taseko Mines Ltd and LaRonge Mining Ltd in the summer of 1971 identified a weak copper soil anomaly (~ 125 ppm) approximately 600 m due east of the 3 247 ft mean sea level bench mark. Other than a few weak soil anomalies nothing of consequence was ever identified in the area until Ryan/BCGold Corp staked the area.
The area is underlain by Upper Jurassic granodiorite assigned to the Granite Mountain batholith. The batholith likely intrudes Yukon-Tanana terrane basement rocks. Geological mapping carried out by BCGold shows that the batholith is comprised of massive and foliated phases. Mineralization on the adjoining Williams Creek deposit is host by strongly foliated feldspar-biotite-hornblende-quartz granodiorite enclosed by weakly foliated or massive granodiorite. Portions of the batholith is overlain by basaltic flows and agglomerates assigned to the Upper Cretaceous Carmacks Group.
Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) soil sampling carried out in 2007 outlined numerous copper MMI soil anomalies. The 2007 diamond drilling on the WS claims tested soil anomalies located in the central area of the claim block. These anomalies are situated along strike and less than 2 km southeast from Western Copper Corp's No. 12 zone. Hole WS 07-07 targeted a 500 ppb copper MMI soil anomaly and intersected a series of weakly mineralized zones of copper-oxide (malachite) mineralization throughout the entire hole length (142 m). Assays from the hole included 0.67% copper over 1.0 m and 0.24% copper over 5.2 m. The other two holes (WS 07 - 06 and 05) failed to intersect any visible copper mineralization. Results of MMI soil sampling on the Wwest claims were not released.
Western Copper's 2007 IP surveys generally provided good correlation between the chargeability and drill results to date. The surveys also identified numerous targets which will require follow-up exploration at a later date. The 2008 air photo interpretation study was designed to identify potential sources of aggregate and clay fill for use in constructing roads, liners and infrastructure associated with building and operating a mine.
BCGold Corp's agreement with Western Copper Corp provided for BCGold to carry out 3 MMI soil surveys over known zones of mineralization located on the adjoining Williams Creek property. In return Western Copper would provide BCGold with geological, geochemical, diamond drilling and IP geophysical results which would allow BCGold to properly calibrate their geochemical and geophysical surveys and enhance their search for "Carmacks style" copper oxide and sulphide mineral deposits.
BCGold's 2008 diamond drilling program tested 5 discrete IP and/or copper MMI geochemical anomalies located along the northwest boundary of the WS claims. The most significant result was obtained from hole WS 08-09B which targeted a weak copper MMI anomaly coincident with a pronounced 2 km long linear IP geophysical anomaly. This anomaly is along strike and 1 km southeast from Western Copper's Zone 14. Mineralization in hole WS 08-09B, which marks the new location of this occurrence, occurs in 2 discrete and relatively homogenous intervals of foliated biotite schist within a white mega-crystic alkali feldspar granodiorite. Mineralization in the upper interval averages 0.13% copper over 20.0 m, between 46.0 and 66.0 m, and consists primarily of pyrite and chalcopyrite intermixed in foliated schist. Massive chalcopyrite occurs along the edges of carbonate stringers and malachite occurs long fractures.
In the lower interval chalcopyrite mineralization occurs in a similar fashion between 85.5 and 109.1 m and averages 0.34% copper over 23.6 m. Chalcopyrite and fracture controlled malachite occur intermixed with pyrite in foliated biotite schist. Massive chalcopyrite rims carbonate stringers and large chalcopyrite grains display red oxidized rims. Propylitic (chlorite, epidote, carbonate and sericite) alteration with secondary hematite and weak alkali feldspar alteration predominates. Hole WS 08-08 returned 0.12 % copper over 2 m and holes WS 08-10, 11 and 12 did not intersect any significant copper mineralization.
BCGold's 2009 exploration program was focused on identifying new areas of mineralization and testing and enlarging previously discovered areas.
