S. Ryan staked LJS cl 1-38 (YC21952) 0.5 km to the west in Oct/2002. Ryan immediately optioned the claims to Copper Ridge Explorations Inc as part of Lucky Joe option agreement (Minfile Occurrence #115O 051) located 10 km to the north. In Feb/2003 Copper Ridge optioned the claims to Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc which carried out a reconnaissance soil sampling and prospecting program later in the year.
Staked within LJS cl 38-78 (YC27363) in Aug/2003 by Kennecott Canada, as part of their option agreement with Copper Ridge Explorations. Kennecott dropped its option in Jan/2004 and returned all of the LJS claims to Copper Ridge. In Jun/2004 Copper Ridge carried out a reconnaissance soil sampling and geological mapping program on LJS claims 39-78. The last of the LJS claims lapsed in Aug/2006.
S. Ryan staked Rose cl 1-28 (YC87106) to the west in May/2009. Restaked as part of Bute claims 1-62 (YC87401) in June/2009 by S. Ryan. Ryan added Rose cl 37-120 (YD96040) in Feb/2010. Ryan packaged the claims together to create the Rosebute property.
In Mar/2010 Ryan optioned the Bute and Rose claims to Taku Gold Corp in return for cash, shares and certain work commitments. Shortly thereafter Taku Gold added Rose cl 121-412 (YD43401) to the existing property.
In Sep/2010 Taku Gold carried out a deep auger soil sampling program on the Rosebute property. Three lines of samples were collected north of the occurrence location. The company also flew an airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over the entire property.
In Mar/2011 Taku Gold staked RS cl 1-72 (YD15751) on the northwest side of the property. In Jul/2011 the company carried out a reconnaissance, ridge and spur, deep auger soil sampling program over the entire property including the Bute claims. The company also carried out follow-up deep auger soil sampling on the Northwest grid to better define anomalies detected during the 2010 sampling program.
In early Aug/2012 Taku Gold staked RS cl 73-112 (YE26103) to the west and in Oct/2012 staked RS cl 115-222 (YE74725) to the west-southwest.
During the 2012 field season Taku Gold dug two trenches and collared 4 diamond drill holes (963.0 m) on the Northwest zone. The company also grid soil sampled the area located south of the Northwest zone which later became the Hudbay and Southeast zones and dug 7 trenches over various targets located within the Hudbay zone. The Northwest, Hudbay and Southeast zones were prospected and rock sampled and ground resistivity and Induced Polarization (IP) surveys were carried out over the Hudbay zone. No substantial work was carried out in or around this occurrence.
In 2013 Taku Gold carried out high definition ground resistivity and induced polarization geophysical surveys on the Hudbay and Southeast zones. The company collected 141 rock samples at 5 m intervals on 7 Geoprobe lines which were located over various geophysical anomalies detected within the Hudbay zone. No substantial work was carried out in or around this occurrence.
In Apr/2014 Taku Gold announced that they had met all the conditions set out in their option agreement with S. Ryan and thus had acquired a 100 % interest in the Rosebute property.
In May/2016 Taku Gold offered a 75 % interest in the Rosebute property to Independence Gold Corp in return for cash, shares and certain work commitments. During the exploration season Independence Gold collared 12 Rotary Air Blast (RAB) drill holes (923.5 m) on the Hudbay zone. In Mar/2017 Independence Gold terminated its option agreement with Taku Gold. No substantial work was carried out in or around this occurrence.
GEOLOGY
The Rosebute property is located approximately 20 km southwest of Henderson Dome and roughly 5 km east of the Yukon River. Access is currently by helicopter however supplies can be barged down the Yukon River and slung in by helicopter. The area was mapped at 1:100 000 scale in the early 2000’s by Ryan and Gordey (2004) of the Geological Survey of Canada. A larger scale (1:250 000) compilation containing revised nomenclature was released in 2005 by Gordey and Ryan.
According to Gordey and Ryan the majority of the Rosebute property is underlain by undivided Devonian to Mississippian orthogneiss (unit DMogg), consisting of pink to orange potassium feldspar rich, granitic orthogneiss. The west side of the property is underlain by unit DMogt, a Devonian to Mississippian, mainly tonalitic or intermediate to mafic orthogneiss. A thin slice of Devonian to Mississippian amphibolite (unit DMa), outcrops in the southeast corner of the property. Several small mid (?) –Cretaceous granitic intrusions (unit Kg) intrude the sequence.
The original LJS claims and the current Bute claims are situated on the southeast side of the current Rosebute property. The area is underlain by undivided Devonian to Mississippian orthogneiss (unit DMogg). A slice of Devonian to Mississippian amphibolite (unit DMa) outcrops in the southwest corner of the current Bute claims. A small mid (?) -Cretaceous intrusion (unit Kg) intrudes on the northeast side of the amphibolite.
Early assessment reports filed by both Kennecott and Copper Ridge report scattered showings of Devonian to Mississippian amphibolite (likely unit DMa) and quartz-mica schist (DMps) and suggested that the area was underlain by these two units. This assumption appears to be wrong. The discrepancy can be explained by the fact that exposed outcrop is estimated at around 5% and both companies carried out reconnaissance scale mapping programs thus leading to the over estimation of the rock units. The companies did report the presence of a small plug or dyke of mid (?) -Cretaceous granite (unit Kg) on the northeast side of the amphibolite.
The occurrence lies in the southeast corner of the current Bute claims and consists of several samples sites which host moderate to strong cobalt, molybdenum and gold soil values. A vegetation kill zone occurs in the same area and a small piece of angular float containing lead, zinc and iron skarn mineralization was found coincident to the soil anomaly. An assay of the sample returned 9 894 ppm zinc and 2 007 ppm lead. In addition a low-level airborne magnetic survey conducted jointly by the Geological Survey of Canada and the Yukon Geology Program (now Yukon Geological Survey) in 2000 outlined a northerly trending aeromagnetic high over the western half of the claim block. The aeromagnetic high was interpreted to represent a large amphibolite body. Both companies judged the soil anomaly too small to warrant further work and Copper Ridge Explorations allowed the claims to lapse at the end of Aug/2006.
In 2010 Taku Gold collected three lines of soil samples immediately north of the occurrence. Of the 96 samples collected, only 12 were sent for analysis. It appears many of the samples contained frozen material and/or were composed of sand, thus were not analyzed. Of the 12 samples analyzed none returned anomalous results. The 2011 ridge and spur soil sampling program carried out on the Bute claims, (specifically north of the occurrence) failed to return any anomalous results. No further work appears to have been carried out in or around this occurrence.
