Work History
Staked as Sterling cl 1-10 (Y56122) in Aug/71 by the Dawson Syndicate (Silver Standard Mines Ltd and Asarco), which carried out grid soil sampling, EM surveying and drilled 5 holes (239.3 m) during 1971; grid soil sampling and an IP surveying in 1972; and bulldozer trenching in 1973 and 1980. Silver Standard changed its name to Consolidated Silver Standard Mines Ltd in 1984.
Fringe staked to the north as Nel cl 1-64 (YB38242) in Sep/78 by Cominco Ltd which carried out prospecting, geological mapping, soil and rock geochemical sampling in 1979 and IP surveying in 1980.
B. Lueck and R. Wongda staked Far cl 1-64 (YB42003) and Far cl 65-70 (YB29811) to the north in May/93 and optioned them to Farallon Resources Ltd. In July and Aug/93 Farallon carried out reconnaissance smpling on the claims before dropping the option.
Restaked as EFP cl 45-76 (YB42626) in Mar/94 by B. Lueck who carried out detailed soil sampling in the northwestern part of the property on a portion of the Rhosgobel stock (Minfile Occurrence #115P 012) for Thor Explorations Ltd, a company controlled by Lueck. L. Hart restaked the Far cl 1-64 (YB42003) in Dec/94.
Restaked as Alpine cl 1-38 (YC01901) in Aug/99 by S.Ryan, within a block of claims that includes Minfile Occurrence #115P 051 to the west. Ryan added Callum cl 1-4 (YC01939) 1.5 km to the south at the same time and carried out prospecting and geochemical sampling on both claim groups later that year. Ryan staked Callum cl 5-8 (YC02339) to the south in Aug/2000, forming a contiguous block with the previously staked Alpine and Callum claims. Magnetometer surveying and geochemical soil sampling in the central portion of the Alpine claims and on the Callum cl 1-6 was subsequently carried out. VLF-EM surveying of the Callum claims was also carried out at this time.
Capsule Geology
The area is underlain regionally by variably deformed and metamorphosed low to very low-grade metasedimentary rocks of the Yusezyu Formation of the Upper Proterozoic to Lower Cambrian Hyland Group. They are intruded and hornfelsed by unfoliated felsic rocks that range in composition from granite to granodiorite. The majority of felsic intrusions are mid-Cretaceous in age, but work by Murphy and Heon (1994) shows that a Late Cretaceous suite is also present.
Galena and sphalerite occur with pyrite and tourmaline in quartz veins that cut schist and quartzite intruded by small syenite plugs and dykes. A specimen from a flat lying showing in the creek bed to the southwest assayed 219.4 g/t Ag, 16.8% Pb and 3.7% Zn.
Emond and Lynch (1992) obtained a value of 1 600 ppm Sn from a quartz-tourmaline vein on this property.
Farallon Resources Ltd collected 8 rock and 15 soil samples on their two visits to the proeprty. The soil samples returned a high of 50 ppb Au while the rock samples returned a high of 341 pp Au.
Ryan identified replacement style mineralization (?) consisting of massive pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite in calcareous rocks on the central ridge on the Callum claims. A grab sample returned 931 ppb Au and 1 866 ppm Cu. Soil samples collected from the southern portions of the grids established on the Alpine and Callum blocks, revealed anomalously high As (up to 301 ppm) with no values for Au reported for the Alpine grid and anomalous Au (up to 261 ppm) and As (up to 356 ppm) values for the Callum grid. Broad interpretation of the magnetometer surveying in conjunction with field observations possibly suggests that a large intrusive body may underlie the northern part of the claim block.
