Work History

First staked as the Superior Lode (269), Summit (5238) and Stockwork (5240) cl in August, 1899 and December, 1901 by A. Gillis and others. Re-staked as Parnell (10988), Gladstone (10978), etc., in July, 1909 by W.D. McKay, N.J. Donahue and others, who formed the Eldorado Dome Quartz MC in 1909 to explore these and other properties in the area. At least 5 shafts (maximum depth of 20 m), a 25 m adit and 15 trenches had been completed by 1923 when the property was abandoned.

Staked as part of the 185 Moon cl (79800) by Klondike Lode Gold ML in 1960 but not explored at that time. Re-staked in part as the ND cl (YA49724) by Klondike Ken Ventures Inc. in May, 1980 and the AC cl (YA64270) by Dawson Eldorado Gold EL.

The ND claims were optioned by Dawson Eldorado in 1981. Dawson Eldorado carried out a photogrammatic survey in 1981 and geological mapping and geochemical sampling in 1983-1984. In June, 1986, the property was optioned to Arbor Resources Inc., which explored with linecutting, magnetics, VLF-EM surveys in 1986 and airborne magnetics and soil surveys, grid geochemistry, EM and IP surveys and bulldozer trenching in 1987.

Kennecott Canada Inc. optioned the property in 1992. The Moon, ND and AC claims were optioned to Kennecott in May, 1993. In 1994, Kennecott carried out a reconnaissance of the entire Lone Star property (which included the Moon, ND and AC claims) including digitizing of previous data, geological mapping, rock sampling, trenching and backpack soil augering. Two diamond drill holes (397.6 m) were drilled on the Buckland Shear zone located 1.5 km to the southwest (MINFILE occurrence 115O 077). No work was completed on the Parnell occurrence. In January, 1995 Kennecott terminated the option agreement and returned all of the claims to Arbor. In January, 1996 Arbor changed its name to Klondike Gold Corp.

In 1996, Klondike Gold Corp. performed trenching in the Parnell area, as well as re-sampling of exposures and outcrop.

Klondike Gold Corp. optioned a 50% interest to Klondike Star Mineral Corp. (KSMC), which became a 50/50 joint venture in 2005. Klondike Star Mineral Corp held a 55% interest in the claims in 2005 and performed chip sampling of historical trenches in the Parnell showing area in 2006.

Regional & Property Geology

The area is underlain by the same muscovite and quartz-muscovite schists (unit Psqm) that hosts mineralization at the Lone Star Mine, 2 km to the northwest (MINFILE occurrence 115O 072). Quartz veins are abundant mainly as foliaform metamorphic sweats, but also as rusty, weakly pyritic, crosscutting veins up to 40 cm wide. Early exploration was directed toward the crosscutting veins. Exposure is very limited and less than half the old workings actually reached bedrock. No assay data from this occurrence is presently available.

Although the placer deposits in Victoria Gulch area are richest below the mouth of No. 7 Pup, the paystreak continues up the gulch almost to its head, suggesting that the Parnell occurrence may have made a significant contribution.

Mineralization & Results

Chip sampling in 2006 of historical trench 88-TR-19, located near the Parnell shaft, by Klondike Star Mineral Corp. returned anomalous gold values up to 63.1 ppb Au.
