WORK HISTORY

Staked as the Polaris cl 1-220 (Y45056) in Dec/69 by Quintana Minerals Ltd which carried out grid soil sampling and geological mapping in 1970.

S. Ryan staked Cream cl 1-22 (YC60088) in Apr/2007 5 km to the northeast. Ryan carried out ridge and spur soil sampling in Apr/2007. In Sep/2008 Ryan added Cream cl 23-68 (YC83144) to his holdings and in Sep/2009 carried out grid soil sampling over 2 areas located in the southern portion of the claim block.

Restaked within Coffe cl 1715-1954 (YD43085) in Feb/2010 by Kaminak Gold Corp. The claims encircled Ryan’s Cream claims. In the summer of 2010 Kaminak Gold carried out ridge and spur soil sampling in and around this occurrence and over the southern half of the Cream claims.

In Sep/2010 Kaminak Gold optioned Ryan’s Cream claims as part of an earlier option agreement covering Ryan’s original Coffee claims (Minfile Ocurrences 115J 110, 111 etc) signed in May/2009. At present Kaminak’s Coffee property comprises in excess of 3 000 claims and covers parts of topographic map sheets 115J 13, 14 and 15.

GEOLOGY

The area was reconnaissance mapped by D. Templeman-Kluit in 1974. Since that time various geologists have mapped near this area but no one has directly mapped the occurrence area in detail. Gordey and Makepeace (2003) released a geological compilation that covered this area. M. Colpron of the Yukon Geological Survey released a Tectonic Assemblage map which included this portion of the Yukon-Tanana Terrane in 2006. Colpron's stratigraphic units and age dates differ slightly from those used by Gordey and Makepeace because he is trying to work out terrane wide relationships.
In general the Coffee property is underlain by a sequence of shallowly to moderately south to southwest-dipping Paleozoic metamorphic rocks that are assigned to the Yukon-Tanana terrane and are intruded by Cretaceous Coffee Creek granite along a west to northwest-trending contact.

Geologists employed by Kaminak Gold have broken the Paleozoic rocks into two main west to northwest-trending, south to southwest-dipping panels. From north to south these include 1) an augen gneiss-mafic schist sequence that is overlain by 2) a heterogeneous package of intercalated biotite-feldspar schist, highly strained felsic rocks, mettagabro, talc schist and metacarbonate. Both sequences are intruded by mid to Late Cretaceous equigranular granite along a west to northwest-trending contact located in the south end of the property. Both the metamorphic and intrusive rocks are cut by intermediate to felsic dykes of unknown age.

The area around the occurrence has not yet been re-mapped by Kaminak Gold geologists. Extrapolating data from various sources, it appears the occurrence is underlain by Devonian to Mississippian metamorphic rocks assigned to the Yukon-Tanana terrane. Cretaceous Coffee Creek granite intrudes the metamorphic rocks approximately 1 km to the east. Felsic dykes likely cut both units.

The occurrence location appears to mark the approximate center of an aeromagnetic high identified in an airborne magnetic geophysical survey flown by the Geological Survey of Canada from Oct/65 to Apr/66. A search of various assessment records failed to uncover any details regarding Quintana Minerals exploration program however the Polaris claims were likely staked to explore for intrusive related molybdenum and copper mineralization discovered in the fall of 1969, on the Casino property (Minfile Occurrence #115J 028) located approximately 37 km to the southeast.

The Cream claims are underlain by Devonian to Mississippian rocks except for a couple of claims located in the southwest corner of the claim block which are underlain by Coffee Creek granite. Soil sampling carried out by Ryan and Kaminak Gold outlined a couple of low grade, gold in soil spot anomalies (< 100 ppm gold). Soil sampling carried out on the Coffee claims surrounding this occurrence uncovered a couple of insignificant gold in soil spot anomalies.
