Work History
Staked as BF cl 1-8 (Y35176) in May/69 by Mitsubishi Metal Mining Company Ltd, which carried out geological mapping and soil sampling programs in 1970.
In Jul/71 Numac Oil and Gas Ltd and Vestor Explorations Ltd tied on Venusa cl 1-8 (Y60945), cl 9-16 (Y61268) and cl 17-24 (Y61276) to the east and south. The companies staked R cl 1-16 (Y61085) 3 km to the southeast at the same time.
In Sep/81 H. Larson staked Ace claim No. 1 (YA73854) 1 km to the northwest.
*The occurrence was moved in June 2010, approximately 3 km to the south-southeast from its previously reported location and renamed the BCICE occurrence.
The new occurrence location was staked as Ice cl 1-4 (YC46784) in Apr/2006 by S. Ryan who conducted a 1 day prospecting program in Sep/2006. In Oct/2006 Ryan staked WS cl 169-196 (YC54005) 1.5 km to the north. The WS claims are part of a larger claim group associated with Minfile Occurrence #115I 007 located 6.5 km to the northwest. In Nov/2006 Ryan staked the open ground between the initial 4 Ice claims and the WS claim block with Ice cl 5-41 (YC54407). In the same month Ryan optioned the Ice, WS and 13 other neighbouring claim groups to BCGold Corp in return for cash, shares and certain work commitments.
In Apr/2007 Ryan staked BC cl 1-144 (YC60184) around the Ice and WS claims. These claims were staked as part of the earlier negotiated option agreement between Ryan and BCGold Corp. During 2007 BCGold flew a regional airborne geophysical survey over their claim holdings, including the WS, Ice and BC claims. The company also carried out Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) soil sampling, geological mapping, trenching and prospecting on the Ice claims. In Sep/2007 the company initiated a 7 hole (1 360 m) diamond drill program on the Ice and WS claim blocks. Four holes were collared on the Ice claims and drill holes Ice 07-02 and 04 which were drilled from the same set up mark the new occurrence location.
During the winter of 2007-2008 BCGold surveyed 1 line of IP geophysics northwest of the 2007 Ice drill holes and 5 lines across the northern Ice and southern WS claim boundary. In the summer of 2008 the company collected MMI soil samples over the north-central portion of the Ice claims. In 2009 BCGold carried out an infill IP geophysical survey over the Ice-WS claim boundary. The company also carried out a mapping and prospecting program on the BC claims to follow-up targets identified by the 2007 regional airborne geophysical survey.
In May 2010 BCGold fulfilled the terms of its option agreement with S. Ryan and the WS, Ice and BC claims were transferred into the company's name.
Capsule Geology

The area is located approximately 8.5 km southeast of Western Copper Corp's Williams Creek deposit (Minfile Occurrence #115I 008). Merrice Lake lies on the northwest side of the area. The area is underlain by Upper Jurassic granodiorite assigned to the Granite Mountain batholith. The batholith likely intrudes Yukon-Tanana terrane basement rocks. Geological mapping carried out by BCGold shows that the batholith is comprised of massive and foliated phases. Mineralization on the adjoining Williams Creek deposit is host by strongly foliated feldspar-biotite-hornblende-quartz granodiorite enclosed by weakly foliated or massive granodiorite. Portions of the batholith is overlain by basaltic flows and agglomerates assigned to the Upper Cretaceous Carmacks Group.
Previous versions of Yukon Minfile report that the BF claims were staked to cover an aeromagnetic high. Geological mapping and prospecting carried out by Mitsubishi Metal Mining failed to locate any insitu mineralization. The soil sampling survey identified several weak single station copper soil anomalies (highest = 50 ppm copper) and the occurrence location appeared to mark the approximate centre point of the BF claim block. No record of work can be located for the Ace claim or the Venus and R claims.
Prospecting and geological mapping in Jun/2007 led to the discovery of the Ice zone (new location of this occurrence). Grab and chip rock samples returned between 1.83% copper and 0.25 g/t gold and 1.28% copper and 0.41 g/t gold from a series of granitic outcrops partially exposed for strike length of approximately 80 m. The rocks locally contain significant amounts of oxide copper mineralization in the form of malachite and secondary biotite (potassic) alteration. The zone occurs along the eastern flank of a bulls-eye magnetic high signiture, measuring roughly 1 000 m by 700 m in size. High anomalous copper-in-soil samples ranging from 281 to 935 ppm copper were recorded 300 m to the west of this zone.
Diamond drill testing of the Ice zone in the fall of 2007 intersected 2 discrete zones of copper-oxide mineralization. The first horizon was intersected between 3.25 m and 7.94 m in hole Ice 07-02. The zone was described as foliated megacrystic biotite rich granodiorite with 5 to 10% malachite on fractures and along the foliation. This intersection returned 0.46% copper over 4.69 m. The second interval was intersected further down-hole between 109.83m and 111.48 m This zone was characterized by 5% malachite on fractures and along foliation planes and assayed 0.21% copper over 1.65 m. Both of the mineralized zones contain discreet grains of hematite. Hole Ice 07-04 collared from the same setup but flared 30 degrees to the north intersected both zones with upper zone returning 0.39% copper over 5.47 m and the lower zone returning 0.26% copper over 0.65 m. The zone is open at depth and along strike. Drill holes Ice 07-01 and 03 failed to intersect any significant mineralization.
The 2008 and 2009 IP geophysical surveys, Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) soil sampling and geological mapping programs outlined numerous targets the company hopes to test in the future with rotary air blast drilling followed by follow-up diamond drilling.
BCGold has not released any detailed results for exploration work completed on the BC claims.
