Work History

Staked as Copper cl 1-6 (Y56164), Tiger cl 1-8 (Y56176) and Nat cl 1-6 (Y56189) in Sep/71 by Silver Spring Mines Ltd, which explored with grid soil sampling, geophysical surveys, bulldozing and 3 diamond drill holes (207.6 m) in 1972 and added the Tom cl 1-4 (Y68436) to the north in August, all in a joint venture with Canadian Reserve Oil & Gas Ltd. Bullion Mountain Mining Company Ltd added the Jerry cl 1-9 (Y56248) to the northeast in Oct/71. Canadian Reserve performed additional trenching in 1976 and 1981.
B. Raptis restaked the Tiger claims as Rap cl 1-8 (YA63400) in Jul/81 and performed trenching later in the year. The Canadian Reserve and Silver Spring interests were acquired by Canada Tungsten Mining Corporation Ltd in 1982.

Capsule Geology

The area has not yet been remapped by the Yukon Geological Survey however C. Roots (1997) of the Geological Survey of Canada under contract with the Exploration and Geological Services Division (now part of the Yukon Geological Survey) remapped topographic map sheet 105M located directly to the south in the mid-1990's. In addition Gordey, Abbott and Roots (1990) remapped topographic map sheets 105M/16, 106D/01 and 106D/07East & 08 respectively in the late 1980's. In 2003 Gordey and Makepeace released a geological compilation of the Yukon which covered this area.
According to Gordey and Makepeace the area is underlain by a sequence of Devonian to Mississippian metasedimentaryand metavolcanic rocks which have been deformed by metamorphism, folding, thrusting and other forces. Numerous Triassic gabbroic sills intrude the sequence.
The original claims were staked to protect possible silver-lead veins extending from the Rambler occurrence (Minfile Occurrence #106D 016) located 2 km to the southeast. The claims are underlain by Devonian to Mississippian metavolcanic rocks. Soil sampling followed by trenching traced a vein for a length of 366 m on the Nat claims. The vein is best developed where limestone and greenstone lenses are found within a schist unit. The vein varies in width from 1.2 to 3 m wide, is open at both ends, is heavily oxidized and contains erratic galena, anglesite, sphalerite and chalcopyrite in a quartz-limonite gangue. No assays have been released.
A large silver and lead geochemical anomaly was outlined along strike to the south on the Copper and Tiger claims.
