Work History

Staked as Silver cl 1-24 (83758) in Dec/64 and Spring cl 1-14 (Y6675) in Nov/66 by J. Strebchuk. The claims were sold in Nov/67 to Silver Spring Mines Ltd, which conducted geochemical and geophysical surveys and bulldozer trenching in 1968. Canadian Reserve Oil & Gas Ltd conducted mag and EM surveys in 1971 under a joint venture agreement. K Djukanstein and J. Holmstrom staked Isa cl 1-4 (y56263) and Punch cl 1-8 (Y56271) to the northwest in Oct/71. The claims were explored with geophysical surveys in 1972.
Restaked as JT cl 1-56 (YA40539) in Jun-Oct/79 and HL cl 1-32 (YA43492) in Feb/81 by J. Strebchuk. Optioned to Hacienda Oil & Minerals Ltd, which performed mapping, an airborne magnetic, EM and radiometric survey in 1979 and geological mapping and geochemical sampling in 1980 and 1981 and bulldozer trenching in 1982. The Helen cl 3-4 (YA76836) and King cl 1-6 (YA76838) were added to the east in Oct/82 by J. Strebchuk.
The JT and HL claims were optioned to Romex Resources Incorporated in May/83, explored with geophysical surveys and 14 percussion holes (823 m) in 1984, and transferred in May/85 to Julian Mining Corporation, which explored with 5 holes (616 m) in 1985 and bulldozer trenching in 1988. T. Kachnic staked adjoining New T M cl 1-10 (YB03845) to the south in Sep/90.

Capsule Geology

The area has not yet been remapped by the Yukon Geological Survey however C. Roots (1997) of the Geological Survey of Canada under contract with the Exploration and Geological Services Division (now part of the Yukon Geological Survey) remapped topographic map sheet 105M located directly to the south in the mid-1990's. In addition Gordey, Abbott and Roots (1990) remapped topographic map sheets 105M/16, 106D/01 and 106D/07East & 08 respectively in the late 1980's. In 2003 Gordey and Makepeace released a geological compilation of the Yukon which covered this area.
According to Gordey and Makepeace the area is underlain by a sequence of Devonian to Mississippian metasedimentary rocks which have been deformed by metamorphism, folding, thrusting and other forces. Numerous Triassic gabbroic sills intrude the sequence. The occurrence consists of a transported limonite gossan underlain by schist, thin bedded quartzite and phyllite assigned to the Devonian to Mississippian Earn Group. Numerous gabbroic sills were also mapped in the area. The only mineralization reported is minor tetrahedrite in a 1 m wide north-northeast striking quartz vein. Two airborne VLF-EM anomalies were verified by ground surveys and geochemical sampling located four silver anomalies, two of which lie along strike from the EM anomalies. The 1984 drilling cut graphite conductors.
