Work History

In 1964 the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) carried out reconnaissance geochemical stream sediment sampling of this area as part of a larger survey encompassing the Keno Hill area. The results of this work were subsequently published as a series of 14 preliminary maps.
Followup of the results of the 1964 GSC sampling prompted the staking of Clark cl 1-4 (Y6933) in Sep/67 by L. Elliott. Elliott staked Priority cl 1-64 (Y14570) to the south in Apr/68 and carried out prospecting, soil sampling, road construction, bulldozer stripping and trenching from 1968-69. During this period Elliot staked Clark cl 5-33 (Y26564) in Jul/68 and Clark cl 34-38 (Y26593) in Jul/69.
The property was purchased by Bullion Mountain Mining Ltd in Jul/70, which carried out soil geochemical sampling, geological mapping, drilled 11 Winkie holes (163.7 m) during August and Sep/70; staked Clark cl 39-86 (Y33527) in Sep/70; soil geochemical sampling, geological mapping, gravity surveying, winter tote road construction, bulldozer trenching, drilled 23 Winkie holes (395.9 m) and 9 NQ and BQ drill holes (477.3 m) in 1971; and staked Judy cl 1-16 (Y55846) in Apr/71; Randy cl 1-8, George cl 1-2 and Spec cl 1-8 (Y56233) in Oct/71; Quest cl 1-14 and 33-175 (Y57367) in Feb/72
Extensive fringe staking occurred from February to May/72, including A cl (Y56522) by Eagle River Mines Ltd and Consolidated Standard Mines Ltd; Lobo cl (Y57124) by Avino Mines and Resource Ltd; B and Main cl (Y57084) by Yukon Gold Placers Ltd; Yal and NWS cl (Y57799) by Galveston Mines Ltd; Lan, etc cl (Y57926) by Celburn Development Ltd; Lake cl (Y68163) by Komo Exploration Ltd; and Pacific cl (Y68095) by British Pacific Exploration Ltd.
Scurry-Rainbow Oil Ltd optioned the property in 1972 and carried out geological mapping, bulldozer trenching, I.P. and gravity surveying and drilled 45 NQ holes (5 704.2 m) later that year. In 1973-74 in a joint venture with Bullion Mountain, the company carried out geological mapping, road building, trenching, 455 m of crosscutting and drifting 100 m below the surface at the 1 006 m (3 300 ft) elevation and drilled 7 underground holes (333.1 m) before dropping the option.
Bullion Mountain changed its name to Northern Bullion (Keno) Ltd in 1976 and to Jubilee Exploration Ltd in 1978.
The showing was partially restaked as Ess cl 1-8 (YA77444) in Jan/84 by Van Bibber Placer Development Ltd, while Bullion Mountain transferred the remaining Clark claims to W. Ramage in 1985.
In May/87 the property was optioned by NDU Resources Ltd which immediately staked Lark cl 1-44 (YA83452) to surround the deposit on three sides. Later in the year NDU carried out geological mapping, geochemical sampling and drilled 6 holes (448.2 m) before staking Lark cl 43-113 (YA83566) to the south in Aug/87. NDU drilled another 3 holes (256.3 m) in 1988 before dropping the option.
In Feb/89, a 50% interest in the Clark & Ess claims was transferred to Van Bibber Placer Development Corporation and the other 50% to Score-Town Holding Ltd.
Restaked as Clark cl 1-36 (YB98252) in Sep/97 by Manson Creek Resources Ltd, which carried out airphoto surveying and a single day of prospecting in 1998.
The adit and underground workings were restaked as Clark cl 1-2 (YC10419) in Jun/2002 by W. Carrell.

Capsule Geology

The showing occurs in a 45 to 170 m wide bed of brecciated limestone in a sequence of schist, quartzite and phyllite of the Upper Proterozoic to Lower Cambrian Hyland Group. Bedding strikes east and dips moderately to the south. Mineralization forms a NNE-trending, steeply east-dipping feeder vein and an irregular manto that has replaced a graphitic horizon within the limestone. The feeder vein has been traced for 200 m along strike and 125 m downdip. It is between 2.5 and 10 m wide and has produced intersections up to 871.3 g/t silver, 16.2% lead and 5.1% zinc over 4 m. The manto is only developed on the east side of the feeder vein and has been traced for 120 m along strike and 60 m downdip. It is up to 5 m thick and has produced assays up to 740.7 g/t silver, 17.4% lead and 4.7% zinc over 1.5 m.
Both types of mineralization are strongly oxidized to the depth that has been explored, and consist of galena with rare sphalerite, pyrite and chalcopyrite in a gangue of siderite ± quartz.
Indicated and inferred reserves were reportedly calculated by L.S. Trenholme in 1975 for Bullion Mountain at 327 373 tonnes grading 5.64% lead, 4.60% zinc and 254.79 g/t silver.
The 1987 drilling confirmed the earlier results and five of the six holes intersected significant mineralization in the manto horizon, with weighted average values of 273 g/t silver, 6.51% lead and 9.30% zinc across 1.8 m. The 1988 drilling failed to encounter any significant extensions of the known manto mineralization, but did encounter a number of weakly mineralized intervals interpreted to be a feeder zone. The best assay was 76 g/t silver, 2.06% lead and 3.84% zinc across 1.5 m.
Manson Creek's 1998 prospecting served to confirm the presence of high grade Ag-Pb-Zn mineralization at the Clark showing.
