Work History
Staked as JK cl 1-160 (YA62639) in Jun/81 by Pan Ocean Oil Ltd, which carried out geological mapping and prospecting later that year before being acquired in late 1981 by Aberford Resources Ltd.
Aberford carried out geological mapping, prospecting, geochemical rock and soil sampling and hand trenching in 1982 and geological mapping, VLF-EM and magnetometer surveying and geochemical soil sampling in 1983.
Capsule Geology
A bedded barite deposit is situated in a similar stratigraphic position to the Jason Main Zone (Minfile Occurrence #105O 019). It is 2 km long, up to 3 m thick, and contains localized zones of laminated and disseminated pyrite with trace base metal and silver values.
Sphalerite occurs in fractures within pyrrhotite skarn, near a Cretaceous biotite quartz monzonite pluton. A sample from a nearby quartz-arsenopyrite vein assayed 0.16% Cu, 570.8 g/t Ag and 186 ppb Au.
