Work History
Staked as Mark cl 1-77 and Lee cl 1-8 (Y53864) in Jul/70 by Anvil Syndicate (Canadian Reserve Oil and Gas Ltd, Occidental Minerals Ltd, Aquitaine Company of Canada Ltd, Canadian Southern Petroleum Ltd and Husky Oil Ltd), which carried out magnetometer, EM and gravity surveying and drilled one hole (91 m) in 1971, and additional mapping, geochemical and IP surveying in 1972. Partially restaked to the east as Gran, etc cl (Y58253), starting in Aug/70, by Cima Resources Ltd and Cyprus Anvil Mining Corporation (formerly Dynasty Explorations Ltd), which carried out magnetometer and EM surveying in 1970-73 and later continued this program in a joint venture with Preussag Canada Ltd. Turam and gravity surveying were carried out in 1976-77 and one hole (152 m) was drilled on Gran cl 15 in 1977.
The Bev cl 1-28 (Y92491) were tied on to the south in Feb/75 by Vangorda Project (Welcome North Mines Ltd and Getty Mines Ltd), which carried out geological mapping and geochemical, magnetometer and EM surveying later in the year. Part of the Mark group to the west was restaked as 32 Lodo, etc cl (Y98430) in May/75 by Lobell Mines Ltd.
Restaked as Al cl 1-16 (YA97494) in Jun/87 by B. Kelhert and Selmane Resource Corporation, who also staked Lar cl 1-16 (YA97478) 2 km west at the same time. Contact Bay Resources carried out geological mapping and geochemical surveying on the Lar group in 1987 and reinterpreted the 1970-71 gravity profiles using two-dimensional computer modelling.
The Al and Lar claims were fringe staked as Darcy cl 1-38 (YB26638) in Aug/89 by Eagle Lake Resources Ltd.
Capsule Geology
The property covers a number of gravity anomalies on the south flank of the mid-Cretaceous Anvil Batholith, 16 km northwest of the Faro lead-zinc-silver mine. The area is covered by overburden. It is interpreted to be underlain by schists of the Lower Cambrian Mount Mye formation which are intruded by mid-Cretaceous Anvil Batholith granite. The 1971 drill hole was stopped in overburden. The 1977 drill hole was collared in granite of the Anvil Batholith.
