Work History

Staked as Mourne cl 1-40 (Y9010) in Jul/66 by J.M. Gillis, etc. Restaked as Grand cl 49-162 (YA85284) in Aug/84 by Hudson Bay Exploration and Development Company Ltd, which carried out geological mapping, prospecting and geochemical rock and soil sampling in 1984 and VLF-EM and magnetometer surveying in 1986 on a grid covering part of Danger Creek, south of the Robert Campbell Highway. The claims, part of the larger Grew Creek property (Minfile Occurrence #105K 009), were optioned to a joint venture comprised of Noranda Exploration Company Ltd, Golden Nevada Resources Inc and Brenda Mines Ltd in 1987 which carried out extensive geochemical sampling, ground magnetometer and airborne geophysical surveying that year.
Prime Capital Corporation tied on 280 non-consecutively number Ran claims (YB9094) to the northeast and southwest in Nov/87 and optioned them to Argo Development Corporation, which carried out geochemical soil sampling, ground magnetometer surveying and geological mapping with Noranda Exploration Company Ltd in 1988. Golden Nevada Resources Inc changed its name to Goldnev Resources Inc in Jun/89 and excavated 4 backhoe trenches, 5 km to the southeast in the vicinity of Danger Creek in 1991 before dropping its option later in the year. The Ran claims were transferred to Prime Equities Inc in Nov/91 and to A. Carlos in Feb/93. In the same month Carlos optioned his Grew Creek claim holdings to YGC Resources Ltd.
YGC carried out a large exploration program in 1993 which included diamond drilling, line cutting, soil sampling, geophysics and trenching throughout the Grew Creek property, which included 2 trenches on the Danger Creek Zone. In 1994 YGC drilled 14 holes (1 307 m) in the South and Main Zones located approximately 10 km to the northwest of the Mourne area

Capsule Geology

The Grand claims, large areas of which are covered by glacial till, are underlain by Eocene aged tuff, porphyry and volcanic flows within a graben between the Danger Creek and Grew Creek Faults. The Ran claims which surround the Grand claims on three sides were found not to lie within the Tertiary graben that hosts the Grew Creek deposit.
Reconnaissance level sampling and prospecting in 1984 did not located any precious metal mineralization. Geophysical surveying in 1986 identified four linear anomalies and several associated, discontinuous anomalies probably related to faulting in the area.
Trenching in 1991 in the Danger Creek Zone on Grand cl 118, 120 and 122 targeted a strong northwest-southeast trending VLF-EM conductor in the area, but no bedrock was exposed except for a 5 m section of unaltered quartz-eye feldspar porphyry in the south end of one of the trenches. Samples of this material returned only background values for Au.
Neither of the 1993 trenches reached bedrock due to extensive permafrost in the area.
