Work History
Acquired as Coal Exploration Licence #70 in Jul/77 by Placer Dev L, which conducted mapping and sampling in 1977 and 1978.
Restaked within Holmes cl 1-1365 (YB71348) by Cominco Ltd in Dec/95 and Jan/96. The claims extend on map sheets 105G 02, 03 and 07.
Capsule Geology
Coal float occurs at two poorly exposed bedrock locations on the river bank. Observed dips are less than 10°. The seams are 0.3 to 0.4 m thick and associated with carbonaceous clay and coaly shale. The coal is Upper Paleocene or Lower Eocene in age and of lignite A and B rank. Tertiary sediments in the Watson Lake basin exhibit upwards fining and thinning and resemble point bar sequences produced by meandering streams.
