Work History
Staked as Mac cl 1 – 294 (YE13701) by the B2 Syndicate which immediately optioned the claims to AccelRate Power Systems Inc for cash, shares and certain work commitments. Two directors and an officer of AccelRate Power are members of the syndicate.
On June 17, 2011 AccelRate Power Systems Inc implemented a Change of Business plan in which the company changed its name to Goldstrike Resources Ltd and became a Mining Issuer on the Toronto Stock Exchange’s Venture Exchange.
In Jul/20111 Goldstrike Resources carried out prospecting and reconnaissance scale rock, soil and silt sampling programs over the claim block.
The claims were allowed to lapse in Mar/2014.
GEOLOGY
The occurrence area is located approximately 10 km east of Moose Lake and approximately halfway between the Hess and Macmillan Rivers in east-central Yukon. Access in 2011 involved flying by float plane to a temporary camp established near Moose Lake and then commuting by helicopter to the claim group.
The Mac claims are principally underlain by Upper Proterozoic to Lower Cambrian Hyland Group phyllite/shale/sandstone/grit/conglomerate and limestone assigned to the Yusezyu Formation. Lenses of limestone outcrop on the eastern side of the claim block.
The Mac claims were staked to follow up regionally anomalous gold silt anomalies reported in a Geological Survey of Canada reconnaissance-scale stream sediment and water sampling survey originally published in 1991. Some silt samples were re-analyzed in 2009 using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). The reanalysis was funded by the Yukon Geological Survey. Coincident thallium, mercury, antimony and arsenic values in some of the samples suggested a Carlin-like metal signature in the rocks.
Goldstrike Resources collected 573 soil, 78 rock and 5 silt samples across the claim block. Soil sampling returned moderately elevated gold values that cluster on higher elevations. The best soil sample returned 39.9 ppb gold. Prospecting located a thrust fault trending 320 degrees that hosts quartz breccia and stockwork structures containing minor galena, chalcopyrite and sphalerite. Sampling (type not reported) returned up to 32 ppb gold, 121.1 ppm lead and 8.1 ppm copper. The occurrence location marks the approximate location of the thrust fault.
Follow-up work was recommended, but Goldstrike Resources decided to focus their exploration efforts on several other properties (Plateau etc.) where they obtained better results.
