WORK HISTORY
In Jul/99 S. Ryan staked Scroggie cl 1-16 (YC17251) 0.5 km to the east (east side of Scroggie Creek). Ryan prospected and sampled the claims in Aug/99.
G.G. Richards staked Rum Run cl 1-20 (YC17658) 2 km to the north in Sep/99. Richards collected reconnaissance soil and rock samples while staking the claims.
Staked as Rum Run cl 21-40 (YC17677) in Jun/2000 by G.G. Richards. Richards staked Rum Run cl 41-50 (YC20212) and cl 53-59 (YC20222) 2 km to the southeast at the same time. During the 2000 field season Richards carried out geological mapping, contour soil sampling and limited rock chip sampling on all of the Rum Run claims.
In Nov/2000 S. Ryan staked Scroggie cl 17-24 (YC20535) on the north side of his claim block.
In 2001 Richards carried additional geological mapping, soil sampling and limited ground VLF-EM geophysical surveys over the Rum Run claims. In 2003 and 2005 Richards ran limited magnetometer surveys over Rum Run claims 1-40.
In Oct 2007 Richards staked Cigar cl 1-12 (YC63021) north of Rum Run claims 4-19 and in Aug/2008 Richards staked Toluamide cl 1-20 (YC75987) east of Rum Run claims 20-40.
In Aug/2009 Richards carried out contour soil sampling over parts of the Cigar, Rum Run and Toluamide claim blocks.
In Sep/2009 Pacific Ridge Exploration Ltd optioned a package of 203 mineral claims commonly referred to as the Mariposa Gold property from G. Richards for cash, claims and certain work commitments. The Mariposa Gold property includes the Rum Run and Toluamide claims and the area surrounding this occurrence. Following the signing of the option agreement Pacific Ridge staked Gertie cl 1-46 (YD08141) south of Rum Run claims 20-40.
In the fall of 2009 Pacific Ridge carried out reconnaissance scale soil sampling over the entire block of optioned claims to verify Richards previous results.
In 2010 as part of a larger property wide exploration program Pacific Ridge prospected, rock sampled and grid soil sampled the area covering Rum Run claims 1-40, (i.e. west side of Scroggie Creek). In Aug/2010 the company staked Cab cl 1-30 (YD07758) west of the Rum Run claims. In the fall of 2010 Pacific Ridge carried out trenching in and around the newly discovered Maisy May soil anomaly (this occurrence).
In the spring of 2011 Pacific Ridge flew an airborne magnetometer survey over the occurrence area. Later in the year following ground magnetic surveys and further excavator trenching, the company collared 4 diamond drill holes (774 m) on the Maisy May soil anomaly.
GEOLOGY
The area is located approximately 120 km south of the town of Dawson City, along the southern half of the Scroggie Creek drainage in west-central Yukon. The occurrence lies near the southern boundary of NTS map sheet 115N&O which was recently remapped by S. Gordey and J. Ryan (2004 and 2005) of the Geological Survey of Canada. Ryan and Gordey and others have recently finished remapping NTS map sheet 115J & K (the map sheet lying immediately south of the occurrence) and are in the final stages of releasing their results (tentatively 2012).
The occurrence area covers Rum Run claims 1-40 which lie on the west side of Scroggie Creek. The area is believed to be underlain by a Devonian to Mississippian age sequence of quartz mica schist, amphibolite, orthogneiss and other metavolcanic rocks. The northern half of the Rum Run claims (claims 1-20) are intruded by a large Early Jurassic granitic batholith described by Gordey and Ryan of the Geological Survey of Canada as a composite intrusive complex comprised of many phases which exhibit diffuse contacts with the country rocks. A poorly defined body of pegmatite occurs in the Camp Creek area within the batholith.
S. Ryan’s Scroggie claims were staked on the east side of Scroggie Creek across from Rum Run claims 21-40. Ryan collected 4 silt samples from two small pups flowing west into Scroggie Creek. One sample collected approximately 0.75 km west of this occurrence assayed 378 ppb gold. The sample site appears to lie along the northeast boundary of Pacific Ridge Exploration’s newly defined Maisy May multi-element soil anomaly. Ryan reported that the sample was collected down stream from a small pegmatite showing.

G.G. Richards the owner of the Rum Run and other claims, placer mined along Scroggie Creek during the 1980’s. Richards staked his claims to try and located the source of placer gold occurring in the Scroggie Creek drainage. Richards spent the 1990’s systematically exploring and sampling Rum Run claims 21-40. Geological mapping outlined a zone of quartz-mica schist QMS) several hundred meters thick cutting northwesterly across the claims. Soil sampling outlined numerous spot gold anomalies with accompanying bismuth, arsenic and mercury values. Ground magnetics identified several faults cutting the claim area.
Following Pacific Ridge Exploration’s execution of an option agreement with G. Richards, the company carried out a late season ridge and spur deep auger soil sampling program to verify Richards’ earlier results. The program’s results generally confirmed Richards’ earlier results.
Pacific Ridge’s 2010 ground exploration program was focused on the Scroggie and Mariposa Creek areas. Grid soil sampling outlined five main gold in-soil anomalies; Skookum Jim, Hackly, Gertie, Maisy May (this occurrence), and Big Alex. The Maisy May soil anomaly measures approximately approximately 1 km long by 0.5 km wide and trends in a northwest –southeast direction. Gold-in-soil values range to 73 ppb in an area of highly silicified quartz mica schist float that has been traced 400 m to the northwest. Samples of the siliceous float returned values up to 1.08 g/t gold with anomalous values in silver, copper, bismuth, antimony and tellurium. The occurrence location marks the approximate high grade core of the anomaly.
The 2011 airborne geophysical survey combined with geological mapping and ground geophysics results indicates that the occurrence area is underlain by older, metamorphic rock types that have been affected by multiple episodes of faulting. This brittle deformation is defined by breaks and offsets of linear magnetic trends that represent different rock types and is theorized to provide ground preparations that is favourable for the migration of gold-bearing fluids and the deposition of gold. The observed patterns of a series of east-west trending structures, together with subsidiary northeast and north-south trending structures, define a property scale corridor which is collectively referred to as the Mariposa fault.
In 2011 Pacific Ridge tested the Maisy May soil anomaly with 4 Diamond drill holes (774 m). The holes tested a multi-element gold, bismuth, copper, arsenic and mercury soil anomaly coincident with potential north-south and northeast trending structures defined from airborne magnetic lineaments. Drill holes 11MP 13 and 14 did not intersect any significant gold values. Hole 11MP 16 intersected a section of silicified quartz sericite schist at depth which contained 3-5% pyrite and chalcopyrite which assayed 0.72 g/t gold over 5.8 m.This interval appears similar in nature to the highly silicified float sampled at surface.
The last drill hole. Hole 11MP 15 was collared down slope and northeast of Hole 11MP 16 and tested anomalous gold-in-soil results coincident with a linear magnetic low. Anomalous gold results of 054 g/t gold over 6.5 m and 2.13 g/t gold over 2.5 m were returned from a section of fractured and brecciated quartz vein, similar in composition to those encountered at the Skookum Main gold-in-soil anomaly (Minfile Occurrence #115O 075).
Pacific Ridge Exploration plans further exploration in the occurrence area to determine the source of mineralization detected in both float and drill core.
