Work History

Discovered by G. Abbott of the Yukon Geological Survey in the summer of 2009 during a regional mapping program.

Capsule Geology

G. Abbott of the Yukon Geological Survey reported a small outcrop of shattered cherty olive green argillite on the banks of the Upper Coal River. The argillite is tentatively assigned to the Upper Silurian Steel Formation and contains breccia zones cemented by fine-grained pyrite and manganese strained fractures. An assay of pyrite breccia returned anomalous values for molybdenum (8.57 ppm), copper (110.6 ppm), nickel (198.4 ppm), manganese (> 10 000 ppm) and iron (24.35%).
