WORK HISTORY

The area surrounding the occurrence was explored in the 1970’s and 80’s as part of a large regional exploration play associated with the discovery of the Capstone Mining Corp’s Minto (Minfile Occurrences #115 I 21 & 22) and Copper North Mining Corp’s Carmacks Copper (Minfile Occurrence #115I 008) deposits. The actual occurrence location may have been enclosed within Western Copper Corporation’s WC or War claims however it appears the area was staked primarily to protect access and provide a buffer around the Carmacks Copper deposit.

Staked as Copper cl 1-22 (YC46762) in Apr/2006 by S. Ryan. In Aug/2006 Ryan collected a series of Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) and conventional deep (~ 1 m) auger soil samples across the northwest-central portion of the claim block. In Nov/2006 Ryan optioned the Copper claims and 14 other neighboring claim groups to BCGold Corp in return for cash, shares and certain work commitments.

In Apr/2007 BCGold flew a regional airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over their claim holdings and staked Copper cl 23-46 (YC60140) to the south and northwest. Later in the year the company completed a Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) soil sampling program over the central portion of the northwest branch of the claim block and on the west side of the main group of claims. In 2008 BCGold Corp carried out an induced polarization geophysical survey over the north portion of the main group of claims. The following year the company carried out geological mapping, prospecting and rock and soil sampling programs over the entire claim block.

In Jul/2010 BCGold accelerated the final payment under its property option agreement with Ryan and secured a 100% interest in the Copper and 15 other claim blocks optioned from Ryan. In Apr/2014 BCGold allowed the Copper claim block to lapse.

Restaked within WC cl 1-72 (YF20701) in Jul/2014 by B. Harris. Harris also staked Hoo cl 1-28 (YF20773) and cl 35-46 (YF46387) to the west and WCF cl 1-6 (YF46407) to the east and south at the same time. Harris incorporated the claims into his larger Stu property.

GEOLOGY

The area is located southeast of Nancy Lee Creek, approximately 3 km northwest of Copper North Mining Corp’s Carmacks Copper  deposit (Minfile Occurrence 115I 008). Access is currently obtained by helicopter or by ATV using various rough drill roads running north from the Carmacks Copper deposit.

The area is underlain by Late Triassic to Early Jurassic granodiorite assigned to the Granite Mountain batholith. The batholith intrudes Yukon-Tanana terrane basement rocks along its southwest margin and is faulted against Stikina rocks to the northeast along the Hoochekoo fault. To the northwest, the batholith is overlain by mafic to intermediate volcanic rocks of the Upper Cretaceous Carmacks Group and to the southeast; the Miller fault juxtaposes Carmacks Group volcanic rocks against the batholith. The Granite Mountain batholith is intruded by dacite dikes related to the Lower Cretaceous Mt. Nansen Group volcanics and by feeder dikes of the overlying Carmacks Group volcanic rocks. Broadly, the batholith is composed of a western Early Jurassic Long Lake suite part and an eastern latest Triassic to Early Jurassic Minto suite part; the contact between the two is poorly understood.

Rock exposure on the Copper claims is estimated to be less than 5%. BCGold states that the Copper claims are underlain by granodiorite assigned of the Granite Mountain batholith. The granodiorite is moderately to strongly foliated and cut by dacite dikes and unconformably overlain by scattered outcrops of younger basaltic flows assigned to the Upper Cretaceous Carmacks Group. Traces of malachite, magnetite and 1-2% epidote were noted in a number of locations

BCGold has not released very much written information regarding the Copper claims. Diagrams based on the airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys and released by the company on their website show that on the Copper claims the granodiorite is overlain by significant amounts of Carmacks Group rock cover. Results of the airborne magnetic survey also outlined 6 magnetic lineaments crossing the claim block. Mobile Metal Ion soil sampling has outlined a series of elevated to anomalous copper values along the west half of the main block of claims. The IP survey outlined a strong chargeability anomaly in the northeast corner of the main claim block. The company has outline 6 potential diamond drill hole locations designed to test various anomalies.

The occurrence location marks the approximate location of a proposed northeast drill hole which was designed to test a coincident IP chargeability and magnetic high anomaly that possesses elevated copper soil values.

According to compilation geology report contracted by Harris (James, 2016), a 1980’s soil survey conducted by United Keno Hill Mines Ltd detected a 500 m long by 230 – 300 m wide copper soil anomaly (named Gran/Zone 3) immediately west-southwest of the proposed drill hole. Western Copper Corp (forerunner to Copper North Corp) appears to have detected a moderate to strong copper anomaly in the same area. Although assay certificates can be found, the original location maps cannot be located.

Harris has not yet carried out any significant field work in the vicinity of the occurrence or any of the other recently staked claims.
