Work History

Staked as Kiss cl 1-4 (YA43747) in May/81 by P. Kiss. The adjacent Sec 1-124 cl (YB29877) were staked in Jun/93 by Ivanhoe Goldfields Ltd. W. Malicky staked Rich cl 1-4 (YB65558) 2.5 km to the east in Jul/96.
Restaked within Dub cl 1-1619 (YC11075) in 2004 by StratGold Corporation. The claim block was staked in stages throughout 2004.

Capsule Geology

The occurrence is located northwest of Dublin Gulch, on the east side of the southern branch of Christie Creek which flows northwest into the East McQuesten River. L.H. Green of the Geological Survey of Canada mapped the area at 1:250 000 scale in 1961 as part of a helicopter-supported party known as "Operation Ogilvie". The area has not yet been remapped by the Yukon Geological Survey however C. Roots (1997) of the Geological Survey of Canada under contract with the Exploration and Geological Services Division (now part of the Yukon Geological Survey) remapped topographic map sheet 105M located directly to the south in the mid-1990's. In addition Gordey, Abbott and Roots (1990) remapped topographic map sheets 105M/16, 106D/01 and 106D/07East & 08 respectively in the late 1980's. In 2003 Gordey and Makepeace released a geological compilation of the Yukon which covered this area.
Extrapolating C. Roots geological mapping north, the occurrence area is underlain by deformed gritty quartzite, sandstone and shale rocks of the Late Proterozoic to Lower Cambrian Hyland Group. In the Dublin Gulch area located approximately 8 km to the southeast, these rocks have been intruded by Late Cretaceous Tombstone Plutonic Suite stocks, dykes and sills. Neither Green's nor Gordey and Makepeace's geological maps identify any intrusions of significant size in the vicinity of this occurrence however they can not be ruled out. In the Dublin Gulch area gold and tungsten mineralization is associated with the Tombstone Plutonic Suite intrusions.
No assessment or other exploration records can be found relating to this occurrence. The original claims were likely either staked on speculation the area might host intrusive related mineralization or to protect placer activity. Ivanhoe Goldfields and StrataGold Corporation staked their respective claim blocks to protect their large Dublin Gulch claim blocks.
