Work History

Staked as the Grey Copper King claim (14902) by R. Fisher and the Silver Queen cl (14901) by L.B. Erickson in October, 1923. The Grey Copper King (Fractional) cl (16527) was added immediately west of the Silver Queen cl in September, 1924 by J. McCloskey.

In 1927, Langham and Forrest drove a 6.1 m adit on the Grey Copper King Fraction, Fisher drove a 3 m adit on the Grey Copper King claim and a boundary dispute resulted in a legal survey in August, 1927. A 7.3 m adit was driven on the neighboring Dominion claim in 1929.

Re-staked as the Mac D cl (61567) in April, 1951 by G. Dickson, who cleaned out the old adits; as Jet cl 1-16 (Y26622) & Fisher cl 17-19 (Y14998) and cl 20-47 (Y27001) in July, 1968 by L. Proctor and P. Versluce, who performed an evaluation survey in June, 1969; as FXE cl 1-16 (Y68390) in August, 1972 by Cypress Resources Ltd; and as Lin cl 1-24 (Y87280) in February, 1974 by Hesca Resources Corporation Ltd., which carried out prospecting and soil sampling, drilled 2 x-ray holes (56.3 m), hand trenched, and opened an old adit later in the year.

Re-staked as Silver Hawk cl 1-16 (YA30639) in June, 1978 by Prism Resources Ltd., which performed soil sampling and geophysical surveys in 1978 and more geochemical sampling in 1979 and 1980; and as Nancy Bea cl 1-8 (YA77313) in August, 1983 by H. Moritz, who performed hand trenching in 1984; and as TAF cl 1-16 (YB2079) in February, 1988 by C. Thomas, who did mapping later that year.

In October, 1994, D. Hajek re-staked the vein with a series of small claim groups. The actual vein appears to be covered by White cl 9-10 (YB43403). Other claims staked at the same time were Lucky Ace 1-2, Lucky Jane 3-4, Lucky 5-6, Ate 7-8, Blue 21-24, Junniper 25-26, Tarmigan 11-12, and Eat 13-14.

Re-staked as Pickney cl 1-4 (YC39575) in August, 2005 by C. Thomas. Metallic Minerals Corp. optioned from C. Thomas in the fall of 2017.

Regional & Property Geology

The occurrence area is situated on the summit of Grey Copper Hill, northeast of the confluence of Police Creek and Carpenter Creek, approximately 33 km due north of McQuesten Lake. The area was regionally mapped by L. Green (1972) of the Geological Survey of Canada in 1961 as part of a helicopter-supported party known as Operation Ogilvie.

The occurrence is underlain by Paleoproterozoic Gillespie Lake Group (silty dolostone, siltstone, shale with lessor conglomerate) in the northern domain and Upper Cambrian to Devonian Bouvette assemblage (limestone, dolomite, conglomerate, black shale and dolostone) in the southern domain. A small section in the southern corner of the occurrence area is underlain by Cambrian to Silurian Menzie Creek formation (Marmot Group) volcanics.

At the occurrence, tetrahedrite was found with pyrite in siderite veins on the Grey Copper King claim, where a chip sample assayed 1,782.8 g/t silver across 40 cm. Wall rocks are thin-bedded chlorite schist and quartzite likely belonging to the Marmot assemblage that are cut by (Triassic in age ?) small sills or dykes. Float was found farther uphill on the King Tut and Silver Queen claims and tetrahedrite float assaying up to 37,713.3 g/t silver was rumored to come from this area but was never substantiated.

Mineralization & Results

Slightly mineralized quartz vein material containing siderite, chalcocite, sphalerite, and chalcopyrite was noted at the old workings in 1969. Specimens taken from the old adit by Prism Resources assayed 4.9% copper and 2,057 g/t silver, while a specimen of apparently unmineralized yellowish dolomitic sandstone assayed 58.3 g/t silver and 0.6% lead and a specimen of clean tetrahedrite float assayed 6 994.1 g/t silver.

A weak copper anomaly drilled in 1974 is underlain by altered greenstone dykes and sills that are cut by widely spaced, narrow quartz and calcite veins carrying disseminated chalcopyrite.
