Work History

Staked as Pelly cl 1-200 (YA28508, not sequentially numbered) in Apr/78 by Kerr Addison Mines Ltd, following an airborne EM survey. The company carried out ground magnetic and EM surveys, soil sampling and drilled 3 diamond drill holes (443 m) later in the year.
Restaked within Au cl 1-378 (YB83261, not sequentially numbered) in May of 1996 by Lawrence Barry. In Mar/97 Barry optioned the claims to Consolidated Shoshoni Gold Inc, which flew an airborne geophysical survey later in the year.

Capsule Geology

The Finlayson Lake region is dominantly underlain by a layered sequence of Devonian to Early Mississippian metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks of the Yukon-Tanana Terrane (YTT) that have been intruded by Mississippian granitic intrusions and later Jurassic, Cretaceous and Eocene intrusions (Murphy et al., 2001). The YTT is a volcanic-plutonic pericratonic arc assemblage that was strongly deformed and metamorphosed by Late Triassic time. Volcanic-hosted massive sulphide deposits exist at different stratigraphic positions within the YTT including the Fyre Lake deposit (Minfile Occurrence #105G 034) in the Devonian to lower Mississippian(?) Fire Lake mafic metavolcanic unit, the Kudz Ze Kayah deposit (Minfile Occurrence #105G 117) in the Mississippian Kudz Ze Kayah felsic metavolcanic unit, the Wolverine deposit (Minfile Occurrence #105G 072) within the Lower Mississippian Wolverine Succession and the Ice deposit (Minfile Occurrence #105G 118) in Early Permian Campbell Range basalt.
The occurrence is underlain by Upper Paleozoic undifferentiated layered rocks of the Money Creek Thrust hanging wall, according to regional mapping (Murphy et al., 2001). The original occurrence consists of 3 diamond drill holes completed by Kerr Addison in 1978. The three holes were drilled to test coincident EM and gravity anomalies. Overburden ranged from 2 to 3 m in depth. The holes intersected quartz-muscovite +/- quartz phyllite, graphite +/- quartz schist, and dark grey to white quartzite. One hole, (KP78-3) also intersected carbonate altered porphyry dikes. No mineralization other than traces of pyrite was encountered and no specific source for the anomalies was determined. A 'blue green oxidation on fractures' was noted at 37.5 m in hole KP78-3.
Consolidated Shoshoni's geophysical survey covered the entire claim block and resulted in the collection of EM, magnetometer and VLF-EM data. The survey returned numerous geophysical conductors, none of which were judged first priority. Six conductor were judged as second priority and 21 were judged third priority. Interpretation of the data was seriously limited by the lack of any type of ground follow-up.
