Staked as Bacon cl 1-4 and Moose cl 1-8 (72705) in Sep/56 by S. Billy and D. McGundy; as Luck cl 1-8 (74913) in Jun/60 by E. Hammer; and as Cone cl 1-7 and Marmot cl 1-2 (77896) in Aug/62 by T. Adams and K. Ashby, who built an 18 km road in 1963 and carried out bulldozer trenching in 1964.
Restaked as Bo cl 1-8 (Y24603) in May/68 by Mount Grant Mines Ltd and fringe staked as Law cl 9-34 (Y29650) in Nov/68 by Contex Silver Mines Ltd. Restaked as Providence cl 1-2 and 4-8 (Y91523) in Nov/74 by Providence Mining Company Ltd.
Restaked as Fat cl 1-4 (YA48446) in Feb/80 by T. McCrory and B. Preston and as Eve cl 1-68 and 73-76 (YA75610) in May/83 by D. Stedman, who carried out geological mapping, geochemical sampling and trenching later that year of the Marlin deposit (Minfile Occurrence #105C 017) located 1.8 km to the southeast within the Eve claim group.
The claim group was subsequently transferred to Anooraq Resources Corporation, which continued work on the Marlin deposit until the property was sold to 12633 Yukon Inc in Sep/98.
Since acquiring the property, 12633 Yukon Inc, has focused its attention on the adjoining Marlin deposit.
Capsule Geology
Bornite and chalcopyrite occur in a quartz-carbonate lense 0.3 m thick that is exposed for 10 m along strike before being obscured by overburden. The lense follows the foliation of Devonian, Mississippian and(?) older aged Nasina assemblage biotite schist and gneiss of the Yukon Tanana Terrane and dips moderately to the southeast. Chalcopyrite veinlets are also reported to occur in the footwall. The showing has previously been interpreted as both a vein and a stratabound lense.
The best trench specimen collected in 1984 assayed 18.0% Cu, 273.2 g/t Ag and 0.6 g/t Au. This is the last record of exploration activity relating to this occurrence, with subsequent work in the area concentrated to the southeast on the Marlin deposit.
