Capsule Geology
Anthracite seams occur in a sequence of shale and limestone of the Mississippian Kayak Formation. The coal contains 1.8% moisture, 6.4% ash, 10% volatiles and 81.9% fixed carbon. According to Norris, these seams are much less than 1 m thick and appear to have little economic potential.
