Work History

Discovered in 1985 and revisited in 1987. The showing lies in an area withdrawn from staking.

Capsule Geology

A 5.5 m thick coal seam occurs over a 4 km strike length in the Mississippian Kayak Formation. Other seams are also present, and probably cover a wide area on the south flank of Hoidahl Dome.
Petrographic and chemical analyses indicate a high quality coal with sulphur contents between 0.5 and 0.6% in most samples, and an average ash content of 7%. Samples from other seams gave higher sulphur and ash contents. Reflectance data indicates rank is close to the semi-anthracite/anthracite boundary.
