Work History
Staked in Aug/76 as 270 Bon cl (YA9186) by Aquitaine, which explored with geochem and radiometric surveys in 1976 and 1977 before trenching, mapping, reducing its holdings to an 8 claim block at the northwest end and a 38 claim block at the southeast end. Aquitaine restaked as the 144 Tie cl (YA31226) in Jul/78, just before the area was withdrawn from staking in Jul/78 pending creation of a National Wilderness Park, settlement of native land claims, and development of a management plan for the Porcupine Caribou Herd.
The claims were transferred to Kidd Creek ML in 1981 and to Falconbridge L in 1986.
Capsule Geology
The northwest group was staked over shale of the Ordovician to Lower Devonian Road River Group, which is unconformably overlain by chert pebble conglomerate of the Lower Carboniferous Kekiktuk Formation. The southeastern claim group is underlain by shale and quartzite of the Lower Mississippian Kayak Formation.
Assays of up to 405 ppm U were obtained from specimens of deeply weathered basal Carboniferous conglomerate. No radioactive mineral has been identified. The uranium probably occurs with phosphate minerals.
