Work History
Discovered by the GSC in 1974.
Capsule Geology
Devonian shale saturated with aromatic hydrocarbons outcrops on a north-flowing, unnamed tributary of Eagle River, 35 km northeast of the Chance oil and gas field. The shale contains fossiliferous septarian ironstone nodules.
Six kilometres to the southwest, a ridge forming sandstone at the base of the Upper Cretaceous Eagle Plain Formation is also oil stained. These two shows are inferred to be a strong indication of oil and gas seeping from reservoirs at depth.
