Work History

Staked as Jem cl 1-8 (YA50087) in Jun/80 by Springfield Consulting Ltd which carried out geochemical sampling and trenching later that year before staking the Be cl 1-31 (YA52677) in Sep/80. Springfield carried out additional geochemical sampling in 1981. The property was acquired in 1982 by Connaught Mines Ltd, which added more Jem claims, and was transferred to Horton Hydrocarbons Inc in 1983.
Restaked as Big Gold cl 15-38 (YB17942) in Sep/88 by L. Turner. Dredge Master Gold Mining (L. Turner) then staked Big Gold cl 39-52 (YB23456) contiguously to the north in May/89 and Big Gold cl 71-84 (YB23505) and Big Gold cl 153-170 (YB23519) to the east and west, respectively, in Jun/89. Numerous other Big Gold claims were staked and restaked in the area by Turner throughout the remainder of that year and bulldozer trenching was apparently carried out on the claims in 1988, 1989 and 1993.

Capsule Geology

Galena and pyrite occur in veinlets and veins within a 730 m by 425 m, northwest-trending Pb-Zn soil anomaly that is underlain by porphyritic andesite, basalt, shale and conglomerate of Tertiary age. Anomalous soil values range up to 3 400 ppm Pb, 6 ppm Ag and 32 ppm Cu. Samples from two, 3 cm wide galena veinlets exposed by trenching in 1980 returned 75.0% Pb with 2 303.9 g/t Ag and 14.1% Pb with 1 155.4 g/t Ag.
