Work History
Discovered in 1964 by W. DeWolfe and examined by Cassiar Asbestos Corp L later in the year. Staked as Tjop cl (YA32682) in Jun/79 by Teslin JV (Cassiar Res L, Cominco & Exploram Mls L), which explored with mapping and sampling later in 1979-1981 and 116 excavator pits in 1981. Cassiar changed its name to Brinco Mg L in 1981.
Capsule Geology
Chrysotile fibre occurs in widely scattered float and small outcrops in an area of extensive overburden. The mineralization occurs in a large serpentinite body that has been intruded by irregular bodies and dikes of diorite. Host rocks are schist and quartzite of the Nasina series.
The excavator pitting exposed only small lenses of blocky serpentinite within sheared, barren serpentinite. The largest lens exposed is about 20 m across and contains about 3 to 4% cement grade chrysotile. Most lenses average only about 2 to 3 m across.
