Work History
Staked as C cl (YA2342) in Aug-Oct/75 by Chevron Can L, which performed grid soil sampling and radiometric surveys in 1976 and mapping in 1977.
Restaked as Tooth cl (YB17966) in Sep/88 by Total Erickson Res L, which changed its name to Total Energold Corp in Apr/89 and performed mapping, soil sampling and geophysical surveys later that year.
Restaked withina large block of PM claims (121-194, YB67734) by Kennecott Canada Inc in Jul/95. In Dec/95 Kennecott staked GMT cl 1-36 (YB67792) 10 km to the northeast.
Capsule Geology
The occurrence covers a small Cretaceous, monzonite to diorite stock (an offshoot of the Antimony Mountain Stock) that intrudes Late Proterozoic to Early Cambrian Hyland Group meta-sedimentary rocks. The occurrence covers a radiometric high (1 000 counts/sec) discovered during a ground scintillometer survey.
Chevron carried out an reconnaissance airborne radiometric survey and a reconnaissance stream sediment survey in the area in 1975. A ground scintillometer survey in 1976 pin pointed the location of the radiometric high. A followed up silt, soil and rock sampling program later in the summer determined that certain phases of the stock have a higher uranium background.
Both Total Energold and Kennecott carried out cursory geological examinations of the occurrence while exploring other occurrences in the area. In 1995, Kennecott carried out a reconnaissance scintillometer survey over the occurrence. The area with the highest reading (970 count/sec) was sampled but no significant alteration or secondary mineralization were observed. The sample returned 20 ppm U and <0.005 g/t Au.
The GMT claims cover a GSC aeromagnetic anomaly and a small intrusive body. Following a short mapping and soil sampling program the claims were allowed to lapse the following year.
