Work History
Staked as the Rose and John cl (Y26967) and a separate block of June cl (Y27433) was staked about 3.2 km to the east in Jun/68 by Cream Silver ML, which explored by grid geochem, EM and mag surveys and trenching later in the year. In 1969, Cream planned to explore the adjacent Can, Ry and Ter cl (Y26501), staked in Jun/68 by Belcarra EL, and a new joint venture company, Belmoral ML, was formed. After negotiations broke down, Cream purchased the claims from Belcarra in May/70 and conducted grid soil sampling, geophysical surveys, geological mapping and minor trenching in 1972.
Restaked as part of a large block of Luke cl (YA37588) in Aug/78 by Welcome North ML. Restaked by Inco L as part of a block of 40 Arm cl (YB29400) in Nov/92.
Capsule Geology
The claims cover Lower Proterozoic, sedimentary sequences belonging to the Gillespie Lake and Quartet Groups. A few small occurrences of chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite occur in hornfelsed siltstone and shale of the Quartet Group and de-dolomitized white marble of the Gillespie Lake Group located along the southern margin of a mafic intrusion mapped on the Rose claim group. Trenching indicated that mineralization is erratic over a width of 1.8 m and a length of 250 m.
The 1972 program is reported to have detected nothing of interest.
