Work History

Discovered by Murphy and Heon during 1:50 000 scale geological mapping in 1993. The showing was staked within block of Far cl 1-70 (YB42003) by R. Wondga in 1994, who performed minor geological mapping and sampling on claims 65-70 in June/94. 
L. Hart restaked the showing within Far cl 1-64 (YB42003) in Dec/94. Wonga transferred Far cl 65-70 (YB29811) to Hart in Jan/95. 
Sometime in 1994 Thor Explorations Ltd optioned/purchased the Far and other neighboring claims from Hart. In Sep/2003 Thor Explorations Ltd carried out soil sampling and prospecting on Far cl 31-34 , cl 51-54 and other neighboring claims. In 2005 Thor Explorations Ltd carried out a reconnaissance exploration program on the Far and other neighboring claims.

Capsule Geology

The area is underlain by the Big Creek stock, a Mid-Cretaceous diorite body which intrudes metasediments assigned to the Yusezyu Formation of the Upper Proterozoic to Cambrian Hyland Group. Mineralized samples collected by Murphy and Heon assayed 377 ppb gold and 478 ppm manganese (vein), 435 ppb gold, 72 ppm bismuth, 88 ppm arsenic, 15.3 ppm silver, 242 ppm lead and 303 ppm tungsten (vein, disseminated); and 20 ppb gold and 789 ppm arsenic (breccia). 
Wondga and Thor Explorations focused most of their work towards the west end of the Far claims near Minfile #Occurrence 115P 012 which covers the east-central portion of the Rhosgobel Stock. Soil sampling in 2003 on Far cl 31-34 and 51-54 identified a 100 m long gold soil anomaly within Far cl 33 and 34 which covers the southeast corner of the Rhosgobel Stock. The anomaly ranges in value from 0.067 to 0.194 g/t gold and was associated with anomalous arsenic and tungsten values averaging 420 ppm and 125 ppm respectively. The 2005 reconnaissance program covered the entire Far claim block and other company owned claims. Numerous single site rock and soil anomalies were identified but given the reconnaissance nature of the program no new areas of mineralization or potential mineralization were identified. Although Thor Explorations held the Far claims for over ten years it appears the claims never received a detailed geological examination, thus the claims economic potential has never been fully explored.
