Work History
Staked as Hun cl (YA79929) in Jun/84 by a joint venture between United Keno Hill ML and Falconbridge L, which drilled a fence of percussion holes (478.5 m) later in the year and performed mapping, geochem and VLF-EM surveys in 1987. United Keno drilled another 14 percussion holes totalling 789.9 m in 1988, and carried out magnetometer and VLF-EM surveys on the 71 Below Discovery placer claim. Further drilling in 1989 included 60 percussion holes (3352.8 m) along Quartz Creek and 8 diamond holes (914.4 m) along Gold Bottom Creek.
Restaked as twelve ASE cl (YB40521) by J. Erickson in Feb/92. The Maker 1-65 cl (YB44881) were staked in Jul/93 by C.R. Little. Arbor Resources Ltd and Wealth Resources Ltd jointly optioned the Maker cl in Aug/93.
Restaked as Pup cl 5-70 (YB88081) by Barrimundi Gold Ltd in Jul/97. In Mar/99 Barramundi completed 3 850 line km of detailed airborne magnetometer and VLF-EM surveying that covered a 16 x 24 km area centered about King Solomon Dome and included this occurrence.
Capsule Geology
The claims follow the gravel-filled valley of Hunker Creek, which in this area is mainly underlain by chlorite-actinolite-quartz schist (unit Psc) thrust onto muscovitic and chloritic quartzite (unit Psq). Both units are part of the Permian Klondike Schist Assemblage. Small lenses of sheared serpentinite occur locally along the thrust surface. The 1988 drilling and VLF results indicate 9 to 18 m of overburden and bedrock of graphite schist and rhyolite porphyry cut by a series of north-striking faults. The strongest VLF conductors coincide with magnetic lows and with extensive zones of clay gouge in drill core.
Drillhole HUN 88-32 intersected a major vein similar to the Ben Levy vein, 550 m to the north. Visible gold was identified in pan concentrates from 2 successive samples between 27.4 and 33.5 m but none was detected by assays. The visible gold may be due to contamination from placer gravels uphole.
