Work History
Staked as Mauri Girl, etc cl (7189) in September, 1905 by S.J.B. Pinder, who shipped 2 tons to a smelter later in the year and explored with a 7 m drift from the bottom of a 25 m shaft, plus a second 12 m shaft, between 1906-1908.
Re-staked as Agnes, etc cl (57739) in July, 1952 by G. Shaw and associates and optioned to Yukon Consolidated Gold Corporation Ltd., which cleaned out and sampled the deepest shaft in 1952-1955, drilled 64 m in 1952 and 437 m (6 holes) in 1956, and added YCGC cl (78139) in August, 1956. Following termination of the option, the owners deepened the workings slightly in 1958.
Re-staked as Thora (87468), Nancy (87469), Lynne (87470), Shelly (87471) and Little Arnie (87472) in June, 1966 by B. Bratsburg, who bulldozer trenched and ground sluiced in 1967 and 1968; as Hobart, etc. cl (Y37967) in June, 1969 by M.D. Crockett, and as GB cl 1-14 (Y56800) in June, 1970 by H.S. Aikens and F. Burkhard. The Daw cl 1-23 (Y65334) were staked immediately to the north in May, 1972 by R.G. Hilker for Sullivan and Rogers, who performed mapping and soil geochemical surveys later in the year. Re-staked as Geo cl 1-8 (Y99841) in July, 1975 by L. Gatenby, and as a single Eagle cl (YA5169) in August, 1976 by H. Liedtke.
M. Stutter tied on Cuag cl 1-8 (YA79726) in April, 1984. These were surrounded by Bot cl 1-84 (YA80474) in June, 1984 by a joint venture between United Keno Hill Mines Ltd. and Falconbridge Ltd., which drilled a fence of percussion holes (457.2 m) 1.6 km south later in the year. B. Hakansson staked BH cl 1-8 (YA89946) 4 km south of the occurrence in August, 1987.
Miben Mining Corporation re-staked part of the Bot group as Bruce cl 1-8 (YB5702) in June, 1988 and R. McPhee tied on View cl 1-12 (YB04572) and Who cl 1-8 (YB04410) in November, 1987. The Bruce claims were transferred 50% to Midon Holdings and 50% to Warnsby Holdings in September, 1989.
Faith Mines and Wealth Resources Ltd restaked around the single Eagle claim (this occurrence) with Eagle cl 1-8 (YB31509) in Aug/90. In 1991 the companies optioned the BH claims and carried out a geophysical survey and trenching. Kennecott Canada Inc optioned the property in Aug/92.
Re-staked within Bar cl 307-362 (YB81564) by Barramundi Gold Ltd. in March and April, 1996. From May to October, 1996, the company carried out a regional silt sampling, mapping, prospecting, and rock sampling program over part of the Klondike region, including this occurrence. In March, 1999 Barramundi completed 3,850 line km of detailed airborne magnetometer and VLF-EM surveying that covered a 16 x 24 km area centered about King Solomon Dome and included this occurrence.
Re-staked as Prince cl 1-46 (YC20647) in June, 2001 by S. Ryan. In October, 2001 Ryan carried out a ground magnetometer survey over MINFILE occurrence 115O 070 located 3 km to the southwest. Ryan also staked Prince cl 47-54 (YC21127). During 2002, Ryan cut a new grid which covered this occurrence and carried out soil sampling and ground magnetometer and VLF geophysical surveys. In December, 2002 Ryan added Prince cl 55-60 (YC23510) to his claim holdings.
Capsule Geology
The area is underlain by Middle to Late Permian medium to dark green chlorite-quartz-muscovite schist (mafic schist-unit Psq); and tan weathering muscovite and/or chlorite quartzite and quartz-muscovite-chlorite schist (intermediate schist-unit Psq), of the Klondike Schist Assemblage, Yukon Tanana terrane (Mortensen, 1996).
Chalcopyrite, pyrite and bornite occur in a quartz vein crosscutting brecciated schist. A selected specimen assayed in 1952 reportedly returned 18% copper and 617.1 g/t silver, while Gleeson (1970) reported that a grab sample collected by E. Kindle of the Geological Survey of Canada (year unknown) from a waste pile located near the original shafts assayed 7.3% copper and 147.4 g/t silver.
The 1984 drilling produced no significant gold values. In 1991, Wealth Resources reported bornite specimens from the showing which assayed 26.9% copper, and 678.8 g/t silver, and 17.69% copper and 699.1 g/t silver. The geophysical survey located an EM conductor extending more than 200 m away from the showing.
In 1996, Barramundi's regional silt program returned an anomalous gold result in the drainage basin hosting this occurrence. Ryan's soil sampling program detected two small >100 ppm lead anomalies down hill of the occurrence. Molybdenum, copper, zinc, bismuth and nickel are coincident with the lead. The geophysical surveys outlined six magnetic anomalies and five VLF conductors elsewhere on the grid but none near this occurrence.
