Work History

About a dozen copper claims were staked by H.E. Porter and others in the Fifty Mile Creek area in 1899-1900 but no specific locations were given. The occurrence was staked as Little Round Top (6080), Richmond (6144) and Waiuk (6277) in Aug-Sep/02 by W.J. Donahue, etc. Early development consisted of shallow shafts and trenches prior to 1911.
Restaked as Ben cl 1-58 (Y15453) in Aug/68 by Connaught Mines Ltd which carried out soil sampling and bulldozer trenching in 1969. In 1972, Moly-Ore Mines Ltd carried out bulldozer trenching and staked the Bushybuck cl (Y65612) under option.
Connaught optioned the property to Shamrock Mines Ltd in 1974 and transferred it to A.F. Tottrup in 1976. Later that year, J.R. Lerner hand cobbed 4.6 tonnes under a lease from Tottrup, who optioned the claims to Westley Mines Ltd in 1979. The Ron cl (YA32667) were added to the west in Apr/79 by R. Fransoo and the Lief cl (YA47810) were staked about 2 km west in Oct/79 by D. Foth, who transferred part interest to L. Grimard and J. Trottier. In 1981, the Ron group was transferred to Westley Mines Ltd.
Restaked as Pra cl 45-67 (YA89118) and Har cl 1-134 (YA89559) in Apr/87 by Walhalla Exploration Ltd. The property was optioned to Croesus Resources Inc in Jul/87, which added Bozo cl 1-12 (Y34061) in Aug/87 and carried out geological mapping, geochemical sampling and road construction later in the year. The property was then optioned to Kelan Resources Inc which carried out geochemical surveying, trenching and drilled 9 holes (285.3 m) in 1988.
In May/89 the Pra, Har and Bozo claims were transferred back to Walhalla, which drilled 7 holes (411 m) later that year. In 1990, Tombstone Exploration Ltd purchased a 100% interest in the property, subject to a 2.5% net smelter return held by Walhalla Exploration Ltd. Exploration consisted of bulldozer trenching and geochemical sampling on the skarn in 1990 and 1991, and overburden drilling of 36 holes (108.8 m) in 1992. Galleon Mining Ltd purchased a 20% interest in Walhalla in Dec/91.
P. Ledwidge restaked the vein showings as Om cl 1-12 (YC07359) in Jun/98 and staked Mug cl 1-8 (YC07351) 3 km to the northwest at the same time. Carta Resources Ltd optioned the Om and Mug claims in Apr/99 and staked Tom cl 3-24 (YC17147) contiguously with the original Om claims in Jun/99 and carried out linecutting, geological mapping and geochemical soil sampling later that year.
The skarn showing (occurrence B) was restaked as Mag cl 1-8 (YC07670) in Jul/98 by 17363 Yukon Inc, which added Mag cl 9-14 (YC12155) contiguously to the north in Aug/98. The company carried out limited prospecting and geochemical sampling at that time and in 1999 Equity Engineering Ltd carried out a property examination on behalf of 17363 Yukon Inc which included limited geological mapping and geochemical sampling.
In Jan/99 Carta Resources changed its name to EarthRamp.Com Communications Inc and repositioned itself as an Internet content provider and developer. In Jan/2000 the company sold its interest in the Om, Mug and Tom claims to H. Leo King & Associates. The claims were subsequently optioned to Grid Capital Corporation which funded a geological mapping, soil sampling and prospecting program in August and Sep/2001 and added Mi cl 1-10 (YC21051). Grid Capital intended to use the 2001 work program as a "Qualifying Transaction" for their initial public offering but unforeseen legal interpretations disallowed the investment.
In May/2002 Grid Capital's purchase of the claims was finally approved by the Toronto Stock Exchange - Venture Exchange. In Jul/2003, Grid Capital carried out an IP geophysical survey over the claims and in Sep/2003 drilled 5 diamond drill holes (813.8 m).

Capsule Geology

Gordey and Ryan (2005) of the Geological Survey of Canada released a 1:250 000 geological compilation map which covered this area. The authors drew upon their own detailed geological mapping programs, other geological mapping programs and recently released age dates to construct their map. The two showing are underlain by Devonian to Mississippian age quart-mica schist (unit DMps) (older maps may refer to this unit as Nasina Assemblage) which is intruded by a small mid (?) Cretaceous granitic stock. Both occurrences occur in Devonian to Mississippian aged hornfelsed schist that has been intruded cut by a small mid (?) Cretaceous granodiorite stock.
Nine mineralized silver-lead-arsenic vein structures are found in the vicinity, two of which comprise this occurrence. In addition, an epidote-magnetite-diopside-pyroxene skarn (occurrence B) containing minor chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite is developed at the contact between a marble bed and the intrusion. A skarn specimen taken by Kelan assayed 0.59% lead, 21 g/t silver and no gold. Kelan's geochemical survey outlined a 2 400 by 300 m area of lead, silver, arsenic, antimony and gold response associated with the magnetite skarn. Soil sampling over the stock to the north of the skarn located a large, moderately intense copper anomaly with two smaller but coincident molybdenum anomalies. Trenching failed to locate any mineralization or significant leaching to explain the anomalies.
A linear lead soil anomaly, some 1 300 m in length, is located about 2 km east of the skarn. It was explored in 1967 by a trench which exposed a galena-tetrahedrite-carbonate vein (No. 6 vein) that assayed 5 698 g/t silver, 4.11 g/t gold and 52.5% lead across 1.2 m. In 1972, the No. 6 vein was trenched at regular intervals over a strike length of 400 m with the vein ranging from 15 to 40 cm in width. The best assay was 5 500 g/t silver, 0.69 g/t gold and 24.8% lead across 30 cm.
About 600 m west of the magnetite skarn, Connaught traced a second vein (No. 8) over a length of 500 m. It contains coarse galena that assayed up to 2 218 g/t silver, 62% lead and 0.17 g/t gold across 0.6 m. Kelan sampled this vein in another trench and reported that selected samples returned up to 4 151.9 g/t silver, 3.95% lead and 2.13 g/t gold.
The 1988 drilling tested the No. 6 vein and the magnetite skarn, but only two economically interesting intersections are reported, the best of which assayed 4.0 g/t gold over 1.67 m.
Overburden drilling in 1992 tested a copper-gold anomaly and intersected altered quartz monzonite. Anomalous copper values of up to 1 383 ppm and gold values of up to 40 ppb were encountered.
Carta's 1999 work extended the previously delineated lead soil anomaly 1 km further to the east with analysis of soil samples returning peak values of 622.7 ppm lead, 206.3 ppm copper, 3 982 ppb silver, 772.7 ppm arsenic and 26.2 ppb gold.
Grab sampling on the Mag claims carried out by Equity and 17363 Yukon Inc confirmed historic values returned during previous investigations, with the best sample returning 4 094 ppb gold and 223 ppm silver from quartz stockwork in granodiorite.
The 1991 soil sampling program tested the newly staked Mi claims and the eastern half of the Tom claims. Two distinct zones of mineralization were identified. The main anomaly is a multi-element (copper-gold-molybdenum-lead-silver-arsenic) anomaly centered in the northeast portion of the Tom claims. It is roughly 600 metres wide and over 2 kilometers long and is open to the southeast. A second sub-parallel anomaly (gold-molybdenum-copper) occurs further to the south and measures approximately 300 metres wide and over1 kilometer in length.
Four of the 2003 drill holes targeted coincident IP and multi-element soil geochemical anomalies. The four drill holes encountered weakly altered, quartz monzonite mineralized with disseminated pyrite +/- chalcopyrite +/- molybdenite veining over intervals of up to 60 m. However, no significant molybdenum, copper or silver values were returned. The remaining hole tested the down-dip extent of a high-grade lead-silver vein. A narrow, massive galena vein was encountered 37 m down the hole. A 0.64 m core interval returned a weighted average grade of 22.08 % lead, 2 086.5 g/t silver and 1.13 g/t gold.
