Work History

Staked as Orion cl 1-126 (Y45840) by Quintana Minerals Corporation Ltd in Dec/69 and explored by grid soil sampling, mapping and mag surveys in 1970.
Canadian United Minerals Incorporated staked Seven cl 1-50 (YC09667) 3 km to the south in May/99. Later in the month, the company added to their claim holding and restaked the occurrence within Seven cl 59-100 (YC09667). The company also staked Seven cl 101-116 (YC09759) 5 km to the south at the same time. During the winter of 1999, Canadian United collected numerous soil and silt samples on the claims and dug a shaft on Seven cl #7 (YC09673).
The Geological Survey of Canada carried out an airborne geophysical survey over the region in 2000 and 2001.

Capsule Geology

The area is located at the northwest end of the Yukon portion of the Yukon-Tanana terrane. The region is currently being remapped by Ryan and Gordey (2002, 2003) as part of the Ancient Pacific Margin NATMAP Project initiated by the Geological Survey of Canada, Yukon Geological Survey and British Columbia Geological Survey Branch. Although a final report has not yet been released, preliminary results are available.
The occurrence lies at the contact between Devonian to Mississippian and older (?) silica rich metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks approximately equivalent to the Nasina Assemblage and a large Early Jurassic medium- to coarse-grained, foliated biotite-hornblende granodiorite intrusion. A large area of orthogneiss occurs to the southeast. The orthogneiss is derived from metaplutonic rocks and preliminary age dating returned a earliest Mississippian age. A large mid-Cretaceous granitic intrusion outcrops to the southwest.
No records could be found regarding Quintana¿s work program, however it appears they staked their claims to cover a small elliptical 100 gamma aeromagnetic anomaly. Canadian United staked the various Seven claims to cover the same magnetic anomaly and to cover a large granitic intrusion which they thought might be mid-Cretaceous in age. Preliminary mapping by Ryan and Gordey indicates the granitic intrusion is Early Jurassic in age.
The soil and silt sampling programs outlined several weak single station gold and bismuth anomalies. The shaft reached 5.6 m in depth before its progress was stopped by the presence of large boulders. Pan concentrated samples collected from various depths returned weakly anomalous results but none worth pursuing.
