Work History

Staked as the Red Fox cl in 1931 and r-staked as the Vindicator cl (60422) in Jul y 1951 by P.F. Guder. Guder performed hand trenching, pitting and bulldozer trenching at intervals through to 1968. The showing was optioned in 1969 by Yukon Revenue ML, which conducted more mapping and sampling. Optioned again in 1973 by Prism Res L, which did limited surface work before transferring the option to Dynasty EL. Dynasty completed grid soil sampling, magnetic surveys, bulldozer trenching and 4 drill holes (317.6 m) in 1974.

The property was optioned from 1980 to 1982 by Arctic Red Resource Corp, which carried out limited mapping and geochemical sampling. A transfer of the claims to Guder Mg EL occurred in 1982. The claims were optioned 1986 by Chevron Mls L which carried out grid geochemical sampling, and in 1987 by Big Creek JV (Big Creek Res L & Rexford Mls L) which did bulldozer trenching. The claims were again transferred, this time to G. Harris, in September of 1989. Harris carried out a trenching program on the Vindicator claims in the fall of 1995.

In 1994, Midnight Sun Mines carried out bedrock mapping and grab sampling at the Red Fox occurrence. Northern Freegold Resources consolidated the claims in 2006 as part of their Golden Revenue property and performed a property wide VTEM and magnetic airborne survey, including the Red Fox occurrence. In 2013, Northern Freegold Resources chip sampling and mechanical trenching at Red Fox.

Triumph Gold acquired Northern Freegold Resources in 2015 and the property that includes the Red Fox occurrence is now termed the Freegold Mountain Project. In 2019, Triumph Gold carried out trenching of 11 trenches (120 m) and geochemistry of chip samples taken within these trenches.

Regional & Property Geology

The occurrence is partly underlain by Yukon-Tanana Terrane (YTT). The rocks of the YTT in this region consist of Early Mississippian metamorphic rocks separated into meta-sedimentary and meta-igneous suites. The meta-sedimentary suite consists of micaceous quartz-feldspar gneiss, schist and quartzite. The meta-igneous package is comprised of biotite-hornblende feldspar gneiss and coarse-grained granodiorite orthogneiss with lesser amphibolite (Friend et al., 2018).

The YTT basement rocks are cut by numerous plutonic and volcanic events from the Mesozoic (Allan & Friend, 2018), including:
1. Early Jurassic Long Lake monzonite suites;
2. Mid- Cretaceous quartz feldspar and feldspar hornblende porphyry dykes;
3. Mid-Cretaceous Whitehorse biotite granite and quartz monzonite;
4. Late Cretaceous Casino quartz monzonite; and,
5. Late Cretaceous Prospector Mountain syenite.

Sulphide mineralization at the Red Fox occurrence is found within an east-trending quartz vein which parallels a porphyry dyke and cuts Paleozoic quartzite and quartzose gneisses (AR 094709).

Mineralization & Results

The quartz vein has been traced for about 30 m and may be an extension of the Margarete vein system to the southeast. It contains lenses of galena with minor sphalerite and chalcopyrite that vary in width from about 8 to 46 cm. The galena lenses are bordered by white quartz veinlets and bluish-grey quartz with minor sulphides.

A sample of massive galena assayed 4,457 g/t Ag, 62.0% Pb and 0.03% Zn. According to the GSC, P.H. Sevensma reported that a band of galena 15 to 20 cm wide assayed 5,862.7 g/t Ag and 70% Pb.

The Dynasty work was directed toward an extension of gold-magnetite skarns traced west from the Guder occurrence. No significant mineralization was obtained in the drill holes. One sample from a 1974 trench assayed 3.8 g/t Au and 617.1 g/t Ag over 1.2 m.

Trenching in 2013 did not yield significant results.
