Work History
Staked as Thatch cl 1-42 (Y63648) in Oct/71 by Can Occidental Pet L following a regional geochemical exploration program. Can Occidental conducted a mag survey, geological mapping, grid soil sampling and added the Hatch cl 1-36 (Y67644) to the south in 1972, enlarged the property and performed mapping, geochem sampling and mag and VLFEM surveys in 1981 and trenching and geochem sampling in 1982 in a joint venture with Eldorado Nuclear L.
Hudson Bay Mg optioned the property in 1984 and explored with VLF EM and mag surveys and 12 holes (886 m) later in the year. Kerr Addison ML staked the HIK cl 1-32 (YA78197) 3.2 km to the southwest in Aug/83 and performed mapping and geochem surveys in 1984.
Capsule Geology
Molybdenite, scheelite and chalcopyrite occur in skarns formed in carbonate-rich layers in Nisling Terrane metasedimentary rocks near the contact of the Eocene Nisling Range Alaskite and weakly gossanous Tertiary volcanic rocks. Two types of skarn were found, calc-silicate and garnet-diopside with magnetite, pyrite and pyrrhotite. Best assays from chip samples were 0.05% W03, 0.1% Cu, .03% Mo, 2.6 ppm Ag and 115 ppb Au over widths ranging up to 2.4 m.
The Hudson Bay work was directed toward precious metals near the plutonic contact, where sheeted quartz sulphide veins are superimposed on an earlier extensive vein stockwork. The best assay from the 1984 drilling was 6.89 g/t Au and 13.7 g/t Ag over 0.2 m.
The HIK group was staked on a 400 m wide argillic zone with local silicification and chalcedonic veining, which cuts a felsic volcanic assemblage.
