Work History
First staked as the KL cl (Y35167) in Aug/69 and as the Mak cl (Y54405) in Sep/70 by Mitsubishi Met Mg CL, which constructed a tote trail to the property and conducted geochemical sampling, IP surveys and bulldozer trenching in 1970 and drilled 7 holes (789.4 m) in 1971.
Restaked by Golden Quail Resources Ltd as part of a block of 800 Nick claims (YB24764) in 1989. Golden Quail performed airborne geophysical surveys in spring, 1990 and ground VLF-magnetic surveys, geochemistry and mapping later that year.
Age determinations and alteration examinations were completed in 1997 (Lewis and Mortensen, 1998).
Capsule Geology
Age determinations were recently done on the rocks hosting this porphyry copper prospect. Disseminated pyrite, magnetite, chalcopyrite and minor molybdenite occur in a weakly altered and brecciated part of an altered upper Cretaceous diorite stock which intrudes early Jurassic Long Lake Plutonic suite and Aishihik Plutonic Suite rocks and is cut by late and possibly unrelated quartz porphyry dykes. A vesicular andesite of the Mount Creedon Volcanic Suite occurs in the vicinity. Copper grade is in the 0.1% to 0.38% range with a trace of molybdenum. Brecciated diorite in one trench assayed 0.38% Cu. Mineralization consists of micro veinlettes of magnetite partially replaced by pyrite and chalcopyrite. The replacements are thought to have occurred as a late event and only selectively along refractures and not as a pervasive event. Lewis and Mortensen (1998) go on to say that the best mineralization is found within the central potassic alteration zone with copper grades decreasing outward through the phyllic and albitic zones. Gold and molybdenum mineralization are thought to be insignificant.
A chargeability anomaly roughly coincides with a 900 x 300 m copper anomaly which trends northwest. Golden Quail obtained pan concentrates containing up to 24 300 ppb Au, 4 370 ppb Pt and 52 ppb Pd from a major northeast lineament.
