Capsule Geology

The area is located approximately 5 km east of the Talbot Arm of Kluane Lake. The area was mapped in the 1960¿s by Muller (1967) of the Geological Survey of Canada. S. Israel (2004) of the Yukon Geological Survey published a geological compilation of southwest Yukon which covered this area.
The area is underlain by an assemblage of Devonian to Cretaceous oceanic rocks and undated clastics (unit PMw) assigned to the Windy McKinley terrane. In the occurrence area the rocks consist of predominantly schists and amphibolites (unit PMw5) and numerous prominent bands of limestone (unit PMw4). This assemblage is underlain by the Early Tertiary Ruby Range Batholith
The occurrence marks the contact between a roof pendant of metasedimentary rocks with limy horizons and the granitic Ruby Range Batholith. Although no assessment or other exploration results can be found, minor amounts of pyrite and chalcopyrite reportedly occur in the intrusive rocks.
