Work History
Discovered by placer miners between 1903 and 1914. Staked as Flyjac cl (Y8018) in May/66 by J. Smith and as CU cl (Y9892) in Aug/66 by R. Granger, who performed trenching in 1967. Restaked as Cop cl (Y35058) in May/69 and as Pud cl (Y51803) in Apr/70 by P. Southwick.
L.B. Halferdahl & Assoc staked 150 EL & Jan cl (YA75206) to the south and southeast in Oct/82-Feb/84 and performed mapping and geochem sampling in 1983-84. The claims were then transferred to Tatam Resources Ltd, which performed road construction in 1985 and 1986. In 1987, the claims were transferred to Nathan Minerals Inc., which performed airborne and magnetic surveys, and ground magnetic and Genie surveys and soil sampling in 1988 and line cutting, road construction and drilling in 1989.
L.B. Halferdahl tied on El, Jan, JJ etc claims to the south and east in October, 1987 and added Jaq cl (YB13997) to the north in Jun/88.
Capsule Geology
The original showing, which lies north of the Jaq claims, consists of chalcopyrite, chalcocite and bornite stringers in Upper Triassic Nikolai Greenstone.
Nathan Minerals' work has been directed toward Permo-Pennsylvanian metavolcanic rocks on the south side of Burwash Creek. The 1989 drillholes tested a geophysical anomaly on the EL claims south of Burwash Creek. Tuff in this area contained up to 5% pyrite in veins, blebs and disseminations. Values up to 1 025 ppb Au were obtained from clay-altered volcanic rocks, and graphitic core and sludge contained up to 260 ppb Au, 3.9 ppm Ag and 548 ppm Zn.
