Work History

Staked as Spring cl 1-24 (YA41589) in Mar/80 by Rambler Explorations Ltd which staked Sudden cl 1-8 (YA41613) 2.4 km to the northwest at the same time. The company carried out trenching in 1980 and diamond drilling in 1981.

Capsule Geology

The occurrence is located approximately 3 km southwest of Mount Cameron in the Davidson Range, north-central Yukon. L.H. Green of the Geological Survey of Canada mapped the area at 1:250 000 scale in 1961 as part of a helicopter-supported party known as "Operation Ogilvie". The area has not yet been remapped by the Yukon Geological Survey however C. Roots (1997) of the Geological Survey of Canada under contract with the Exploration and Geological Services Division (now part of the Yukon Geological Survey) remapped topographic map sheet 105M located directly to the south in the mid-1990's. In addition Gordey, Abbott and Roots (1990) remapped topographic map sheets 105M/16, 106D/01 and 106D/07East & 08 respectively in the late 1980's. In 2003 Gordey and Makepeace released a geological compilation of the Yukon which covered this area.
Extrapolating C. Roots geological mapping north, the occurrence area is underlain by Middle to Late Devonian Earn Group penetratively deformed rocks consisting of carbonaceous phyllite, siliceous carbonaceous metasiltstone, rare calcareous greywacke, metaconglomerate and a felsic metavolcanic member. This sequence is intruded by numerous Triassic aged tabular shaped metamorphosed mafic igneous intrusions.
No assessment or other exploration records can be found for this occurrence. Its is likely the claims were staked for potential lead-silver +/- zinc mineralization. The Canadian Mines Handbook 1981-82 reports trenching in 1980 and diamond drilling in 1981 however government records can not verify this.
The occurrence is now located within Class A Settlement Lands controlled by the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun.
