Work History

Staked as Lad and Ed cl (Y33374) in Jun/70 by G. Dobson. Restaked as Lad cl (Y57421) in March/72 by Cypress Resources Ltd, which added more Lad cl (Y68564) later in the year and carried out magnetometer and EM surveys, grid soil sampling, hand trenching, and drilled two holes (163.7 m) in 1972-73.

Capsule Geology

The region is underlain by a metamorphosed and altered sequence of Early Proterozoic Wernecke Supergroup clastic and carbonate rocks (Fairchild Lake Group, Quartet Group and Gillespie Lake Group, from oldest to youngest) that are intruded by Early to Middle Proterozoic mafic sills and dykes, and cut by Middle Proterozoic Wernecke Breccia. To the east, Wernecke Supergroup rocks are unconformably overlain by Middle Proterozoic Pinguicula Group rocks.
Pyrite, galena and sphalerite occur in an east-trending shear zone 76 m wide which dips 70° north. It cuts thin-bedded Gillespie Group dolostone that strikes northwest and dips 35° northeast. An overburden-covered limestone-argillite contact follows the east side of the property.
Within the shear zone, chip samples at 4.6 to 7.6 m intervals ranged from 0.04 to 0.09% Pb, 0.03 to 1.11% Zn and 4.1 to 7.5 g/t Ag. The 1973 work was directed towards the overburden-covered east extension of the shear zone.
