Work History
The Rogue cl (YB03692) were staked in Jul/90 for Nebex Resources Ltd, following a short geological reconnaissance program. Nebex later optioned 50% of the property to Vortex Energy and Minerals Ltd.
Capsule Geology
Anomalous gold and silver values are associated with a quartz vein-stockwork system in the contact aureole around the Rogue Pluton, a Cretaceous granite to quartz monzonite stock. Up to 2 km from the intrusive contact, Lower Cambrian sedimentary rocks (chert, black shale and minor limestone) are metamorphosed to slate, phyllite, schist, hornfels and skarn. The host sedimentary rocks are folded, and cut by high angle reverse faults, and contain dykes, sills and irregular pods of granitic material.
Quartz veins extend about 20 to 30 m into the granite and outward about 110 to 200 m into the sedimentary rocks. They contain auriferous pyrrhotite and pyrite, and minor chalcopyrite, molybdenite, galena and sphalerite. Disseminated sulphides also occur, and are frequently concentrated along fold hinges. Mineralized areas are marked by extensive gossans. Associated silicification extends up to 1 km from the intrusive contact.
A specimen taken from a 20 x 0.2 m quartz vein in granite assayed 66.56 g/t Au. A specimen of argillite containing up to 40% pyrrhotite and minor chalcopyrite returned 2520 ppb Au. A vuggy quartz vein at the intrusive contact contained 108 ppm Ag, 9600 ppm Pb and 3100 ppm Zn, and another quartz vein at the contact contained 3600 ppm Mo.
