Work History
Originally staked as Pearl cl (13624) in Apr/20 by S. Thurber who carried out hand trenching. Restaked as David and Joan cl (59523) in Dec/49 by I. MacKay and fringe staked as Bluebell and Dan cl (59755) in Sep/50 by F.S. White, who carried out hand trenching and completed a 12 m shaft. Restaked as Ore cl 1-16 (82587) in May/63 by C. Baker and J. Gillis, who reopened the shaft for Crown Silver and Development Ltd.
Restaked as Sob cl 1-18 (83436) in Jun/64 by United Keno Hill Mines Ltd, which carried out geochemical soil sampling and prospecting later that year and horizontal loop EM and bulldozer trenching in 1965. Restaked as Bell cl (Y32988) in May/70 by W.T. Synott, who staked more claims from June to Aug/71 and carried out bulldozer trenching from 1970-72. Fringe staking included Ruby cl (Y33309) to the southeast in Aug/70 by Z. Virani, who carried out trenching in 1972, and Snafu cl (Y33043) to the northwest in Oct/69 by R. Martin.
Restaked as Calumet Cache cl (YA1911) in Mar/76 by W. Malicky and as Ore cl (YA1960) in May/76 by W.T. Synott, who carried out trenching from 1977-79. Teck Corporation staked September cl 5-12 (YA37095) across lower Fisher Creek to the northeast in July/78 and carried out grid soil geochemical sampling in 1979.
Restaked as Bry cl 1-6 (YA39595) in Apr/79 by Canada Tungsten Mining Corporation, which added Bry cl 7-21, 24 and 31-33 (YA40104) in Jun/79 to surround existing claims in the area and carried out geological mapping and soil geochemical sampling later that year. The B and F cl (YA41567) were staked to the southeast in Feb/80 by B. Foote, who added Foote and Ross cl (YA43747) in May/81 and carried out road building and trenching later in the year.
Restaked as June cl 1-4 (YA76700) in Jul/82 by T. Casten and transferred to Sultan Energy Corporation in 1983. The September claims were restaked as Silver Duke cl 1-8 (YA76707) in Jul/82 by N. Bunka, who carried out trenching in 1983 and added Dry cl 1-8 (YA77498) to the northwest in May/84.
Restaked as Gnuf cl 1-4 (YB03594) by H. MacDonald in Jun/90.
Restaked as Fisher cl 1-22 (YC01769) in Jun/99 by Expatriate Resources Ltd, which carried out geological mapping, prospecting, soil geochemical sampling and staked Fisher cl 23-67 (YC01996) to the north and west in Nov/99.
Mega Silver optioned the Fisher claims from Stratagold in 2007. Mega Silver also optioned the Spider, Man, Ag and Eagle claims to the north. The 2008 program for Mega Silver's 'Eagle Project' on claim holdings on Galena Hill included an airborne magnetic gradiometer and VLF electromagnetic survey over the entire claim holding. Geochemical soil surveys were conducted on the Spider, Man and Ag claims as well as the Fisher claims. Four trenches were attempted on the Fisher claims but did not penetrate overburden. Limited geological mapping on the property was carried out.
Capsule Geology
Float and vein material containing galena and tetrahedrite was found by McKay, and United Keno Hill found similar float plus several barren veins. Bedrock consists of south-dipping quartz-graphite schist, phyllite, and minor quartzite and limestone of the Upper Proterozoic Yusezyu Formation of the Hyland Group, which is overlies Mississippian aged Keno Hill Quartzite south of the Robert Service Thrust within the Tombstone Strain Zone.
Canada Tungsten located a float ore sample near old workings in the area of the Fisher Vein, consisting of coarsely crystalline galena and minor tetrahedrite, which assayed 22 295 g/t Ag and 25% Pb.
Expatriate's soil sampling was carried out along claim lines and on a grid positioned over Fisher Creek. Two areas of weak, but coincident Pb-Ag response were detected to the north and northwest of the Fisher Creek grid, while sampling of the grid returned scattered, moderate to strongly anomalous gold values. Prospecting of the southern part of the grid located sulfide float and masses of ferricrete (< 0.5 m in diameter) within a thick layer of glacial till. The limonite covered float boulders contained massive to semi-massive, coarse grained pyrite, sphalerite, pyrrhotite, galena and arsenopyrite in a quartz-carbonate gangue. Results from 4 of 5 sulfide samples collected returned similar assays averaging 176.0 g/t Ag, 2.1% Zn and 1.14% Pb with low gold values, while the fifth sample returned 7.01 g/t Au with 24.0 g/t Ag, 8.46% Pb and 0.13% Pb.
Mega Silver's gridded soil sampling on the Fisher claims confirmed anomalous values within the grid and expanded the grid westward over the area of historical workings.
