Work History

Historic workings located in the vicinity of this occurrence likely date from the early 1920's. The earliest available staking records for this area indicate Nabob cl (55316) was staked 0.6 km northwest of the occurrence location by T. McKay in Oct/44 and optioned by P.W. Forrest in Nov/45; by W. Schofield from Jun/48 to Jan/54; and taken to lease (Lot 925) in Sep/55.
The Bucaneer cl (56690), staked in Sep/50 by E.O. O'Neill, which adjoined the Nabob claim to the south, was purchased by Bibis Yukon Mines Ltd in Dec/50; taken to lease (Lot 646) in Aug/56; transferred to International Bibis Tin Mines Ltd in 1965; and to Laurasia Resources Ltd in 1973. In Sep/74, Laurasia optioned the Bucaneer and 6 adjoining leased claims (Rum Tum, Pirate, Broken Spur, Amber, Dipper and Emerald) to Decker Lake Mines Ltd which built an access road and carried out bulldozer trenching and rock geochemical sampling in 1975 and grid geochemical soil sampling in 1984.
The Nabob claim was restaked as Blanche cl (YC00365) by W. Malicky in Jan/98.
The seven leased claims that comprised the Laurasia option were restaked as Teach cl 1-7 and Cambra cl 1 (YC02353) in Aug/2000 by Archer, Cathro and Associates (1981) Ltd which carried out prospecting, geological mapping and soil geochemical sampling later in the year on behalf of the private syndicate for which Archer, Cathro holds the claims.

Capsule Geology

The area is underlain by the Tombstone Thrust sheet which is comprised of Devonian to Mississippian aged Earn Group clastic rocks consisting of massive chert-pebble conglomerate, black chert and carbonaceous phyllite and felsic meta-tuff, which is overlain by Mississippian aged Keno Hill quartzite consisting of sandstone with carbonaceous interbeds and minor limestone.
Decker Lake's trenching indicated the presence of a number of vein systems in the vicintiy of the occurrence: The Nabob #2 vein, 0.6 km northwest of the occurrence location; the southern extension of the Nabob #2 Vein onto the former Bucaneer claim; the Rum Tum vein, approximately 250 m northwest of the occurrence location, now on Teach cl 7; the Fox and Lakeview veins located 550 m south-southwest of the occurrence location; and indications of a another vein 450 m to the southwest I the area formerly claimed as Broken Spur.
The Nabob #2 vein was exposed in trenching in 1975 and sampling across 35.6 cm reportedly assayed 11 527 g/t Ag and 29.58% Pb.
Trenching on the Rum Tum vein that same year exposed a complex fracture zone 12 m wide within which a 30 cm wide vein averaging 9 359.8 g/t Ag has been traced for a length of 15.2 m. Selected specimens assayed up to 53 621.4 g/t Ag and 29.8 g/t Au. Both the Rum Tum and Nabob #2 veins are transverse type veins, with a northeast strike and a steep easterly dip. They are mineralized with galena and tetrahedrite in a siderite gangue and cut Earn Group metavolcanic rocks (previously the 'Lower Schist') and greenstone beneath the Keno Hill Quartzite. Samples collected in 2000 returned 3 946.4 g/t Ag and 61.4% Pb from across a massive, 3 cm wide vein of galena, while massive and semi-massive arsenopyrite veins of similar widths returned low Ag and Pb values but elevated Au values up to 10.41 g/t.
The 1984 soil sampling is reported to have located an area of anomalous silver and lead values 750 m south-southwest of the occurrence location referred to as the Decker zone, a 350 m by 100 m anomaly with core values of at least 100 ppm Pb. Resampling of this area in 2000 outlined an anomaly of similar size and magnitude to that identified during the original sampling.
