Work History
Staked as Clare cl 1-72 (YA59696) in Apr/81 by Anaconda Canada Exploration Ltd following airborne magnetometer and EM surveying. The claims were staked contiguously with a large block of 724 Ace claims, covering 27.5 km along strike southeast to Earn Lake, which the company had staked between September and Dec/80. In 1981 Anaconda carried out regional scale geological mapping of these claims, as well as grid geochemical soil sampling, Max-Min EM surveying and detailed geological mapping elsewhere to the southeast in the claim block. Grid development followed by VLF-EM, magnetometer and gravity surveying was carried out on the Clare claims in 1982. During May to Oct/82, Anaconda carried out property wide grid geochemical soil sampling, geological mapping, geophysical surveying and staked Ace cl 719B-754 (YA74825), Clare cl 65B-76 (YA74841) and Bush cl 33-48 (YA74809) in Jul/82 contiguous with the existing claim block. In 1983 Anaconda carried out additional geological mapping, soil geochemical sampling and geophysical surveying within the claim group. Anaconda's interest was transferred in 1985 to Fleck Minerals Inc which subsequently allowed the Clare claims to lapse.
The occurrence was restaked as Gaz cl 1-4 (YB13897) in Jun/88 by Archer, Cathro and Associates (1981) Ltd which carried out prospecting and geochemical sampling in 1989.
In 1995 G. Carlson acquired 100% interest in the neighboring Ace and Nora claims to the southeast from Fleck Minerals and in Jun/96 Carlson optioned the claims to Blackstone Resources Inc which drilled 4 holes (734.8 m) on Ace cl 279 and 280, 4.5 km to the east (Minfile Occurrence #105L 031). In Oct/96, Blackstone restaked this occurrence as Queen cl 1-46 (YB 96665).
Blackstone optioned the property to Geologix Exploration Inc in Jun/97, which carried out magnetic and gravity geophysical surveying, hand trenching, prospecting, geological mapping and rock and soil geochemical sampling of this occurrence and the adjoining Ace and Nora claims (Minfile Occurrence #105L 031).
Capsule Geology
Barren, fetid quartz-carbonate veins and one mineralized vein are associated with geochemical anomalies on the west slope of Lone Mountain. Quartz-feldspar bearing, mid-Cretaceous age, intrusions have been mapped in the area. The mineralized vein, which cuts calc-silicate hornfels of the Cambrian to Ordovician Kechika Group, contains quartz, arsenopyrite and galena.
Two Anaconda chip samples from trench #3 averaged 2 013 g/t Ag, 1.2% Pb and 0.4% Zn over 0.3 m. Minor chalcopyrite was found in quartz-chlorite-actinolite-pyrrhotite skarn and approximately 1% pyrrhotite occurs as disseminations and in thin stringers parallel to cleavage in non-calcareous beds.
Work completed in 1997 by Geologix provided important refinements of the interpretation of the coincident gravity, EM and magnetic anomalies, some of which were the target of the 1996 drilling by Blackstone.
