Work History
Mineralization was noted by the GSC during a mapping program in 1935. First staked as Margo (95652) by W. Green and Lin cl (95805) by Golden Gate EL in Dec/65, and as Rum cl (97768) in Jan/66 by Glen Harris. Golden Gate flew an airborne mag survey in Sep/66 and conducted a geological reconnaissance in November.
Capsule Geology
The GSC noted quartz veins containing pyrite, chalcopyrite and a little galena and the presence of gossans, which are caused by pyritic zones in Upper Paleozoic andesite. This unit separates Tertiary basalt to the southwest from Cretaceous granodiorite to the northeast, and is itself cut by a small porphyry stock of Tertiary age. The only sulphides seen by Golden Gate were pyrite, pyrrhotite and magnetite.
