Work History
Staked as Cat cl 1-16 (Y80454) in Aug/74 by Norex Resources Ltd, which carried out trenching, geological mapping, geochemical and gravity surveying in 1975. In 1976, Norex entered a joint venture with Afrex Oil and Gas Ltd and optioned the claims to Preussag Canada Ltd, which carried out geological mapping, magnetometer, EM and geochemical surveying in 1976, IP and gravity surveying in 1977 and drilled 2 holes (340 m) on the Cat cl 24 and 26 in 1978.
Restaked as Cat cl 1-8 (YA82567) in Jul/84 by Starlight Energy Corporation and transferred in 1985 to Norex.
Capsule Geology
The property is overburden covered, but is underlain by biotite schist and chloritic phyllite of the Lower Cambrian Mount Mye formation. The 1978 drilling intersected weakly disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite in the phyllite and in numerous crosscutting quartz-carbonate veinlets. Traces of sphalerite and chalcopyrite are associated with the pyrrhotite. The best core assays were 0.1% Zn over 3 m and 0.02% Cu over 3 m.
