Work History
Staked as Vin, etc cl (67060) in Oct/53 by Prospectors Airways Company Ltd on behalf of a syndicate including Noranda Mines Ltd & Kerr Addison Gold Mines Ltd and restaked as Bill cl 1-40 (85598) in Oct/63 by Dickson Yukon Syndicate (Faraday Uranium Mines Ltd, Homestake Mining Company Ltd, Union Carbide, United States S & R, Violomac Mines Ltd and T. Lindsley).
The syndicate was succeeded by Rose Creek Vangorda Mines Ltd, which entered a joint venture in 1966 with Cyprus Anvil Mining Corporation and Dynasty Explorations Ltd and transferred the claims to a new company, Pelly River Mines Ltd. Pelly River carried out geological mapping, geophysical and geochemical surveying in 1965 and 1966; drilled 2 rotary holes (210 m) in 1966 (Bill cl 28); 2 holes (610 m) in 1968 (Bill cl 17 & Joe cl 17); 17 rotary holes in 1971 (Bill & Lo groups); 1 hole (291 m) in 1975 (Gal cl 71); 1 hole (535 m) in 1976 (Bill cl 34); linecutting in 1978; 1 hole (462.6 m) in 1980 (Gal cl 56); and 1 hole (615.1 m) in 1981.
Control of Cyprus Anvil was sold to Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas Ltd and subsequently to Dome Petroleum Ltd in 1981. Dome's interest was sold in 1985 to Curragh Resources Ltd. In Nov/94 Anvil Range Mining Corporation acquired all claims owned by Curragh following the bankruptcy of the latter.
In Jan/98 Anvil Range filed for court protection in order to restructure the company. In Jan/99 Anvil Range¿s stock was delisted and the company entered bankruptcy proceedings.
Capsule Geology
The property is underlain by schist and calc-silicate of the Lower Cambrian Mount Mye formation. No mineralization has been reported in the drill holes.
