Work History
Staked as B cl 1-68 (94358) in Nov/65 by Tay River Mines Ltd (Copper Ridge Mines Ltd, Silver Standard Mines Ltd and Utica Mines Ltd), and as OK cl 1-64 (94980) in Feb/66 by Mid-West Mines Ltd and Ventures Mining Ltd, which formed a new company, Kim Exploration Ltd, to develope the claims. These claims were tied on to the Cub and Beta groups of Anvil Mining Corporation Ltd. Tay River and Kim both carried out ground EM and magnetometer surveying, soil sampling and mapping programs in 1966. Kim did some trenching in 1967 before transferring its claims to Branta Exploration Ltd.
Partially restaked in Jun/72 as Foto cl 1-200 (Y66390) by Dynasty Explorations Ltd and Atlas Explorations Ltd, which carried out geological mapping, soil sampling, Turam, magnetometer and gravity surveying later in the year and drilled 5 widely spaced holes (632 m) in 1973 in a joint venture with General Crude Oil Ltd following a gravity survey. Atlas changed its name to Cima Resources Ltd in 1974. Dynasty changed to Cyprus Anvil Mining Corp in 1975 and drilled 3 holes (370 m) in 1976 and 2 holes (260 m) in 1978.
Capsule Geology
The area is overburden covered and was staked for positional value. No significant anomalies or mineralization were found by early workers. The 1972-73 geophysical work defined several anomalies but drilling returned disappointing results. Bedrock in the area is phyllite assigned to the Lower Cambrian Mount Mye formation.
