Work History

Staked as Lyn cl (Y36756) in Sep/69 by Kerr Addison, which explored with geochem and gravity surveys and 3 holes (404.2 m) in 1971. In 1972, the property was explored in a joint venture by Thales EL, a Cyprus subsidiary, which drilled 2 holes (453.5 m).
Restaked in Jun/77 by J. Graham, etc as Pug & Jo cl (YA87441), and optioned to Brendex Res L, which drilled 1 hole (175.3 m) later in the year. The adjoining TELE cl (YA18342) to the southeast and 115 Lou cl (YA19858) to the northwest were staked in Jun-Sep/77 by the Woodside Project (Getty and Welcome North), which explored with mapping and geochem surveys later in the year.
In 1978, J. Graham restaked part of the Pug as BUIE cl (YA22431) and added Key cl (YA24412) in Jun/79. Woodside Project performed additional geochem surveys in 1978 and 1979. Part of the BUIE and Lou claims were restaked as Pug cl (YA50971) in Jul/80 by Sunexco Energy Corp., which performed a gravity survey later in the year.
Restaked as Pug, Key & Lan Dar cl (YA95845) in Aug/86 by Lan Dar Mg Corp, which trenched in 1987 before adding Juston cl (YBO8246) and optioning the property in Sep/87 to Dominion E Inc (Landmark Corp), which added Abe & Kelsey cl (YB08460) to the south and Mary & Verle cl (YB08405) to the north in Sep-Oct/87 and performed road building, trenching, airborne geophysics, ground EM & mag surveys, mapping, geochemistry and drilled 13 holes (753.4 m) in 1988. T & M Murnion tied on the Tim & TMJ cl (YB20356) to the southwest in Jul/88.
All of the claims were transferred to Murnion United Mining Inc., which trenched later that year and in 1989 and drilled and trenched in 1990 and explored with bulldozer stripping in 1991. The Riley claims (YB27968) were added in Oct/90. J. Murnion explored the Juston, Tim, and Riley claims with stripping and test pits in 1992 and stripping in Sept/93. Stripping was performed on the Pug, Key and Lan-Dar cl in April/93. The Tino cl (YB38224) were staked 3 km to the north in Aug/93 by G. Touchette.
In July/94 J. & T. Murnion carried out 2,753 m3 of stripping on the Justin and Tim claims. In Apr/96 Murion United Mining Inc collected a bulk sample from the property.

Capsule Geology

High grade silver-lead veins cut Early Palaeozoic sedimentary and metasedimentary rocks along the south side of the Tintina Trench near a granodiorite stock. Mineralization consists of argentiferous galena, tetrahedrite, sphalerite and chalcopyrite in quartz-calcite-siderite gangue.
The veins appear to lie along a wide shear zone which trends WNW and forms a strong air photo lineament. Some signs of mineralization concordant with foliation were noted in outcrop but short sections of mineralized vein-breccia and bleached schist were intersected in the 1971 drilling.
The 1972 drilling encountered numerous zones of mineralized calc-silicate gneiss with assays ranging up to 11.2% Pb, 1.1% Zn and 34.2 g/t Ag in hole 72-1.
Woodside's 1977 work was directed toward traces of galena and sphalerite in the overlying Ordovician-Silurian Road River Formation shale and argillite. The top 50 m of the Brendex hole contained traces of sphalerite with siderite in a narrow breccia zone, and with quartz in fractures in interbedded carbonaceous limestone and black shale. One section of unknown width assayed 1.54% Zn, 0.08% Pb and 0.7 g/t Ag; however, others were uniformly low.
Dominion's 1987 trenches exposed 11 lenticular veins cutting Cambro-Ordovician laminated and thin-bedded carbonaceous limestone. Surface chip samples assayed up to 4328 g/t Ag, 57.72% Pb and 10.88% Zn over 0.3 m. Trench samples averaged up to 120 g/t Ag, 4.5% Pb and 1.6% Zn over a 10 m width, including 284.6 g/t Ag, 9.5% Pb and 2.7% Zn over 2.0 m. The 1988 trenches returned assay values up to 575.3 g/t Ag, 21.05% Pb, 6.35% Zn and 0.86% Cu over widths ranging from 0.5 to 0.9 m. All of the 1988 drillholes intersected mineralization. The best intersection was 1397.8 g/t Ag, 48.2% Pb and 14.7% Zn over 0.2 to 2.6 m.
In 1989, trenching at the east end of the property exposed a shear zone more than 50 m wide, bounded by carbonaceous shale to the north and silicified dolomite to the south. The shear zone coincides with a strong air photo lineament striking WNW parallel to the trace of the Tintina Fault. Narrow quartz-sulphide veins were found at both margins of the shear zone.
On the north margin of the shear zone, a 0.5-1 m quartz-galena-tetrahedrite-bornite-chalcopyrite vein exposed over a length of 6 m strikes northwest and dips steeply southwest. The footwall consists of unsheared shale; the hanging wall consists of sheared, silicified, sideritic carbonaceous shale. A specimen from the vein assayed 1680.3 g/t Ag, 68.7% Pb, 1.6% Zn, 1430 ppm Cu, 2000 ppm Sb, 303 ppm As and 270 ppb Hg.
On the south side of the shear zone, a 36 cm quartz-galena vein exposed over a 6 m length contained 384.7 g/t Ag, 48.41% Pb, 1.6% Zn, 431 ppm Sb and 120 ppb Hg. Another small vein along the same contact consists of 5 to 8 cm of massive galena cutting sheared dolomite.
A heavy mineral concentrate taken on the property in 1991 is reported to have assayed 27.4 g/t Rh and 38.4 g/t Au.
The Verle claims were staked to cover an airborne EM conductor (see Fargo occurrence, Minfile #105K 012).
